Selling my first ebook, any suggestions?

Hi all,

So I'm finally ready to sell my first ebook which took a few months to complete. I'm going to sell it on my health blog which receives about 300-500 views on a daily basis. On that blog, I have a mailing list of around 80 people subscribed via feedburner and 97 subscribed via mailchimp.

My question is this: What is the best way to go about selling the ebook?

I guess I could just upload it to my site and make a page about it, advertise it, etc.

But I want to make the most money out of it, gain the most profit, etc. I'm just not sure how to go about it since I've never sold anything online.

Do you guys recommend any services? Ejunkie/Clickbank, for example? Have any suggestions? Steps on how to go about selling my ebook to gain the most money?

I'm really new to all this and I would just like to learn the ropes. Don't want to mess it up.

Thanks.

First of all, congratulations on completing your product!

There are many ways to go about selling your product. With the infrastructure you already have in place, I'd consider going the Kindle route.

You could subscribe to something like LeadPages and use their LeadBoxes feature to get far more people to opt-tin to your list. At 300-500 visitors a day, that list could build rapidly. With a decent list, you could then ramp your Kindle book up the charts during the giveaway period with plenty of reviews, and refer new buyers back to your website.

Then just keep putting out the niche books, repeat the launch process time and time again. Expand your social media profile and start paying for big-time giveaway promotions. You could end up with a lucrative little empire there.

Sell it through you Auto responder Follow Up Series.

It takes 3 to 5 times for a prospect to see a Product and then buy it.

This is a perfect scenario for that.

If it were me I would put it on Amazon Kindle as well and take some of their traffic.

Then I would make 20 videos or so that each give one great tip that helps to solve a problem in your niche, I would have the link in the YouTube description point to my book on Amazon and at the end of the video tell them to click it.

You could find a list owner in your niche somons that is selling soloads to his list or even someone that does not usually sell soloads and try to make a deal with him to send out an email to is list. share the profits with him or pay a set fee. And you should collect subscribers along the way.
Congrats and good luck to you.

Any other tips? Going with Clickbank seems like a good idea, but do you have any steps to go about that?

This is what I'm going to do or at least what I was going to initially do. I'll be selling it on my site and I'll be sending emails to all my subscribers about this new ebook. Not sure how many will bite.

How much will you be selling it for? If you plan on selling it for around $37 or more and you want to recruit affiliates I would suggest going with Clickbank. If you will be selling it for say $7-$17 I would say go with e-junkie or JVzoo.

Since you already have a list I would suggest setting up a 5 day autoresponder series that provides valuable information to your list about the product. For example, lets say your product is about bodybuilding. You can set up a series that takes them through various steps of bodybuilding and then refer them to your book for more information.

So on day one you could talk about the 5 foods every bodybuilder must eat to gain mass. Day 2 you could talk about the best exercises for huge biceps etc. You would continue to do this for 5 days. The idea is to teach them something everyday and at the end of each email you would simply say to learn more check out my eBook where I show you how to_____________

Just fill in the blank and send them to your salespage. As long as the information in the email is valuable they will click through to see what you have to offer.

That is an awesome idea! Thank you. I think I'll try it this way first. But how exactly can I implement ejunkie or JVzoo with this idea? Like I said, I'm really new so I have no idea how to even apply these services effectively.

      But awesome suggestion!

You said you are using mailchimp correct? Just set up your autoresponder so when people sign up they will automatically start receiving your first email in the 5 day serious. Give them their free offer and then send out the first day of the 5 day series the next day.

E-junkie and JVzoo are what you would use to process your payments. You can do more with them but just keep it simple for now until you start making sales. Sign up for an account with the one of your choice, set everything up, get your buy now button and place it on your sales page. At the end of all of your emails you would refer the reader to your sales page.

If they make a purchase e-junkie or JVzoo, whichever one you choose, will process the payment and deliver the product for you. All you need to do is get the people to your sales page.

First, congratulations! I know that a lot of sweat goes into writing a book. (I've written a few myself).

I can't help wondering why you haven't considered publishing on Kindle? It's very easy and that's where people go looking for books - not so much on Clickbank.

Here's what I'd do in your position:

Tell your list about your book and on what date it will be available on Amazon Kindle. Tell them it will be available for the first three days at 99 cents, and ask them if they would review it for you. You could throw in an "ethical bribe" such as a pdf summary of the book, for example.

Do the same in any social media groups you belong to. (Don't spam them, of course, but join Facebook, G+ groups relevant to your topic ahead of time, get known as someone who adds value for a couple of weeks or so, then you can tell them about your book's release.)

Make sure your title and topic has a reasonable chance of getting into the top 20,000 in your chosen niche. (Look for similar titles in that range and check out their bestseller rank. If there are at least a couple in the top 20k, you're good to go).

On the 4th day, bump the price to $2.99. If your promotion has done reasonably well, Amazon will see good sales and decent reviews and will do quite a bit of the publicity for you.

There's a lot more you could do, but as a basic strategy I hope that helps. Definitely Kindle is where this belongs IMHO!

A good way to get word to spread is by inviting your first buyers to an affiliate program where they can earn a referral commission for telling friends about the book (if they liked it, sharing news about it to their friends is a no-brainer - and getting paid for doing it is icing on the cake!) If you've got a popular book in your niche, this could snowball pretty quickly.

Sell it on your website first and foremost. With 500 daily visitors you have plenty of people to offer your ebook, too, and probably at a much higher price then is possible on Kindle.

      The mechanics are fairly easy:

      * Setup a page on your website dedicated to your book
      * Sign up with a payment processor to be able to receive payments (WarriorPlus, JVZoo, PayPal, E-Junkie)
      * Have a way to deliver the file after the purchase (depending on the payment provider used, this can be different; WarriorPlus can host the file, I believe. With PayPal you'd need to redirect the buyer to a secret page on your site to download the ebook)

The above suggestion to get reviews is an excellent one. If you gather reviews add them to your book's sales page. And you'll likely will be able to get reviews from your current list subscribers.

This scammer I just quoted here does not only steal your money with sorry stories that he lost his wallet and that he's dead broke in the Phillipines, he also starts to threaten people after that by email and personal messages.

        Way to go dude!

I warn everyone to ever do business with this low life as he's highly unreliable, probably some kid who likes to make money the easy way.
