The Mystery of Building Lists

I just recently read a well written report by one of the top marketers on the Internet. It was really brilliant. However, I detected a hole in the steps that were laid out in the (online) product creation section.

Perhaps one of you WF members can help.

It was on the very first step. The instructions were to create a list, before actually writing the product. That way you were assured to have a starving audience before actually creating the product.

Sounded legit, however, the marketer didn't go into too much depth on how this was to be accomplished. He did say that you could have something like an e-zine or series of reports to give out for free to generate interest in your subject.

I know that writing a blog or something like that would be a good idea, but this whole thing makes it seem like it should take a long while to accomplish and having written loads of blogs. I know that getting a following isn't going to be easy, even if you are offering a well written series of reports.

I'm just wondering if I am being dense or if my assertions are correct.

Anyway, Warriors, any help or insight you can give me on this subject will be greatly appreciated.

God Bless,

ELMO

    Hi ELMO,

Writing a blog in just one way to being list building. I see you have over 200 posts in the WF...so I figure its pretty hard to believe that you don't know anything about list building.

But...if you don't..then here is your steps:
    1. Pick a Niche
    2. Google List building On You tube...watch and make notes (alot of videos and notes).
    3. Use your knowledge and begin building your list.

    Cheers,

Believe it or not, I have not created any products, or sold any. I have been focused on copywriting, so I have been posting almost everything that I have been commenting on about copywriting.

Thanks so much for helping though.

      God Bless!

At the moment I would say a facebook fan page is an excellent way to build a super targeted list very cheaply but remember it will be a list of prospects that opted in for a freebie.

Now I read an interesting report lately that suggested starting off with the product first eg WSO and build a buyers list that will have a much bigger potential to earn higher amounts as they have already bought from you.

I did not realize that you could opt in on FB pages. Thanks so much for the great tip, my friend.

I would highly recommend you to build a niche blog and start building up the daily traffic flow to it.

And everything you are saying is correct. It is a process and it will take a good time to get the desired results.

Just learn internet marketing strategies. Build a niche blog. Work on building up the daily traffic flow to the blog by implementing multiple internet marketing strategies.

Build a Facebook Fan Page for the blog and grow your Facebook Network.

Start capturing leads by using a lead magnet like a free ebook or video training or something like that. Monetize your entire blog with this capture page > capture leads and follow up with them.

    Very simple process!

    I hope this helps!

I wish you the best of the best!!

    Cheers!

Thanks so much my friend, that was valuable information.

  • 1. Pick a niche.
    2. Build a list.
    3. Market related products to your list.

Simples? Not quite! To build a list you need to create a desire for the prospect to sign up with a free gift of value that in part solves their problem or answers a question. Follow up by building a relationship and trust with them and only then market the related product or products that address their need.

Once they are on your list, you can sell more higher priced solutions to those same people. Not rocket science is it?

You can outsource all this. Without outsourcing most of your work in the IM arena, you will end up doing little with little results.

How do you think big corporations grow? They outsource! So outsource the whole darn thing and you will be left with profits....

The reason for setting up a list building process as you create content and plan an infoproduct in your niche is that you'll attract a targeted audience during the time it takes to make your product - plus you'll gain in several more ways like:

    * getting ideas for what to include in your product, by surveying your list
    * getting reviews of your drafts to improve or add more content
    * getting testimonials prior to a general launch, which adds social proof
    * getting affiliates who will spread word about your product, gaining buzz

    An effective approach is:

    * identify your niche
    * decide your angle/approach
    * start building a list
    * find out what prospects want
    * create (or source) solutions
    * sell them to a hungry crowd

This isn't the *only* approach, just one of many practical ones.

    Hope this helps.

forget everything and start building your list with solo ads. i know you have to pay for the solo ads. but it is the fastest way to build a good quality list FAST................FAST....
EXAMPLE: I SENT SOLO ADS THIS MORNING, 12 HOURS LATER, I HAVE 200 NEW SUBSCRIBERS ON MY LIST..get a 1000 people on your list and then you can do ad swaps and build your list to 5k for free.

I think picking a niche and building a sales funnel first would be better, then driving traffic to that funnel to make sales. A simple sales funnel could follow:

squeeze page - Free offer - follow up email series - promotional emails.

This is a very simple funnel but you should be looking for automation of the whole process. Each of these steps are suppose to welcome and warm up your customer with help to a problem and building trust. Once this is done you can market a relevant product to your chosen niche.

All just advice, do what you want.

    Good luck

    Hi there,

Building a list is SUPER EASY! And .... you don't even need a product to giveaway.

The harder part is building a relation with the list and making money from it, but that really ain't too hard either (depending on the niche...).

If you are trying to build a list in the bizop, Internet Marketing niche then it IS actually as easy as this:

    * Slap up a half decent squeeze page. (Discover How To Make $100-200 a Day Starting NOW!)
    * Buy Solo Ad Traffic from sellers with good reputation (plenty of solo ad providers on the warrior forum and hundreds of groups on facebook!)
    * After they optin forward them to a CPA offer, Pay Per Lead offer or other affilaite offer....

    Best Regards

I'd recommend entertaining the idea of creating a product first. That way you get 'Buyers' on your list. Buyers will generate at least 10x more profit then a regular opt-in. The interesting dynamic - when you create a product your purchasers will have respect for you (if the product is good) as product owner. They will be responsive if your e-mail marketing practices are good.

dude, if you know copywriting you are sorted... list building is all about copywriting.

Traffic is easy, just find about $500/month for paid marketing(solos, PPC etc), and if good at copywriting you will have a huge list of people who will buy in no time...

if you don't have money, then blog... it takes about a year to build a nice blog though...

      Vasilev,

Thanks so much for the tip. $500 a month would eat me alive right now, so I guess I'll blog.

The idea of building a list first is a way to validate a product idea. If people opt in, that
means they're interested in what you're offering in the lead capture page - but you probably
    already know that.

You can write out a series of emails and based in your email tracking stats you'll have
an idea if the product is worth the time developing.

The WSO approach is also not that much different besides a couple of extra heavy lifting
    in :

    1. creating a relevant report / short video series / etc
    2. sales copy
