Default Dropping a niche vs fixing it?

I've been recently considering dropping my current WoW niche and just starting fresh. Reason being that when i started my niche I had no idea what I was doing and so my keywords are terrible, my articles arent very good (keyword wise) and my sales are non existent. My idea is that now that I know how to properly find long tailed keywords, and I have read a few e books on writing proper articles, and since I have a working business model to follow, I would restart completely with a new niche that has more keywords (meaning less keyword competition, and easier to write diverse article). I would also start out using a free web hosting service rather than blogger and I would implement all of the ideas I have learned here and that i have learned from my previous niche. The only thing that is stopping me from doing it is the possibility that it may be the wrong decision. I'd rather not waste time reinventing the wheel when I can just improve on it so i decided to ask you experts your opinions. What do you think? Should I restart completely with a new niche that I can possibly write reports on and follow the newbie workbook 100% to completion? Or should I just stick with what I have now and hope it starts to work out? And if you think I should restart does anyone have any sample landing pages that have been successful that I could take a look at? Also does anyone have any niche ideas? I currently receive the niche a day emails however alot of the niches don't seem very practical. Any ideas or comments would be great.

Gregg

If the niche is making money (ie. others are making money with it) and you know what they want - then simply begin marketing effectively with the new techniques you mention (though I would advise strongly against free hosting).

If you doubt the niches ability to make money - then get out and start again.

thanks for the comment, a friend advised strongly against free hosting as well what is the cheapest you can really get hosting for a month? including buying the domain name. And blackscorpion i assume you are glad that you changed? Yes I am sure there are other people making money with it, however with all the authority sites involved it seems like it isn't that great of a niche idea (forums, the games website, the games forums, the companies website, help sites) all these usually take up the first page on google which is my main reason for doubting. Also I would like to really follow the workbook and see where it leads as I wasn't serious when I was using it so i often slacked off and I ended up just quitting at day 12 or so and trying other things such as offline marketing. Anybody have any ideas on how to pick a profitable niche? with minimum competition preferebly. Or are there any reports on choosing the right niche?

You can actually reedit your articles if you are using EZA (not sure about the other article directories). If something is not working for you but you are getting traffic, I would start to look at sending the traffic somewhere else.

I probably wouldn't just abandon ship though. After all, it is out there already and a quick re-edit shouldn't eat too much into your time.

Hi Gclunis,

If you are going to start fresh, I would start by looking at what areas people are always seeking information on to improve their current situation or solve a problem.

Areas that have worked well historically are:

losing weight
relationships
forex/stock investments
eBay
home business/Internet marketing

This is not all-encompassing but it shoudl give you some ideas. If you look on marketplaces like Clickbank or CPA networks, you will find various products that fall under the above niches.

Of course, picking a niche that you have experience or an interest in will help too!

Good Luck!

How long have you been established? e.g. is it an aged domain
How much traffic are you getting?
Have you done proper keyword research to see if there are good longtailed phrases you can grab that arent authority?

There are plenty of questions to be asked before deciding to abandon a niche imo. If you spent a day or two rewriting would you be able to turn it around, at least enough to leave beyond the occassional article whilst you persue other niches?

if you can get the traffic with a couple of days work you can make some money. If you make some money you can outsource the articles whilst you focus on another niche.

Gclunis,

having been in the WoW niche before, i know that it's extremely profitable and if you know your stuff you can do very well.

if you decide to start over with a WoW, take ALL of your old articles and edit them to fit your new site. the editing won't take as long as writing and editing new articles and will give you a giant push of content when you first launch your new site.

also, i don't recommend getting a free domain or free hosting. drop $20 and get a domain and private hosting and your site's legitimacy will be far higher.

if you're looking for more WoW niche help PM me

thanks for all the help, i am not completely abandoning the WoW niche I just wanted a fresh start with something new so that I could do things correctly this time and actually spend time on it. My wow stuff is still up and I will continue to write articles for it, however my focus will be on a relationship niche that ive spent the last few hours researching (picking the product and finding the right keywords) my main problem is that I am not positive how to construct my landing page to be successful...if anyone knows of any ebooks that give information on that any links would be great. Im heading to the WSO to check as well

I will also work on fixing whatever I can with the WoW niche. I hope no one thinks of me as some sort of quitter for this haha I just feel that the best thing for me to do is to restart with a new mindset, a new goal, and with a new understanding of the terms and processes involved in niche/article marketing.
