Making the Most out of Articles w/domain redirecting - Clickbank OR CPA?

Hey guys,

I had this question for a little while now as to which route to chose. Quick money is definitely the goal in mind here. Friends have informed me of writing articles and redirecting a domain to your affiliate product.

The question I have is which to chose from: Clickbank OR CPA???

I am unfamiliar with the whole EPC concept but it seems as though if an EPC were at 30 cents (for 100 clicks) VS. a Clickbank product that converts at 5% and pays out $20 per sale, it would make more sense doing the CB product right?

Well, yeah and no. What you should really be doing is matching products to interested prospect (article reader). Some keywords (I call them conversations) simply won't produce at all on CB products. The same keywords may respond to things they could order online.

    An example...

I have a couple articles that get 600-1,000 pageviews a month and the CTR is roughly 30% on one of them. The link in the resource box redirects directly to a sales page. There are only 2 products that are sold on clickbank in this niche and although gravity is fairly low, both were getting sales.

After the first month, I had roughly 600 visits (I had more than just two articles) to the sales page and NO sales. I switched to the other offer.

The next month, again, nearly 500 visits and NO sales.

I switched to an actual product (the niche is in alternative home remedies) and it converted at nearly 9% the first month.

Had it not worked, I probably would have built a video opt-in form with a 'mini-report' and then built a list to discover what the market was interested in, if anything OR built an adsense site and taken the residual income.

What I have found is that the only way you can find out for certain whether your market is interested is testing.

Thanks for your response, that sounds interesting.

At the end of the paragraph when you say you "switched to an actual product", are you saying you were now doing CPA?

and the other 2 times that didn't convert you were using the Clickbank offers?

No...what I mean is I actually became an affiliate for an actual product. And no, clickbank didn't convert in this case but that doesn't really matter. The point is that you need to match up your offer with those who are interested. It could have just as easily been the other way around.

If you do market research and apply Pareto's principle, you should be able to drill down and find what your market is used to spending their money on. Clickbank products and ebooks didn't convert that well in the alternative health product. That said, if I was selling a 'person finder' service, it would likely get more conversions than say a company that would send you information snail mail.

If you want to see how the more savvy marketers are using CPA, just go and find something that is hot (search google trends) and then google it and take a look at the ads. Chances are if you are dealing with celebrities or music, you will find a ton of offers tailored to the interests of the searcher.

I wouldn't normally plug my site, but just last week, I wrote a post about CPA and those marketers that were targeting the huge search volume made from Michael Jackson's death....

    Hi Spv618,

    My rule of thumb is:

If I direct link from my article to my affiliate product, I go the Clickbank route.

If my article link goes to an opt-in page, I will promote Clickbank as well as CPA products to my e-mail list.
