Good News For Musicians - CD Baby Adding Single Song Downloads

From 11th July, if you have your album on CD Baby you can start selling individual songs as downloads. The new online store will feature

• The ability to sell single-song downloads.
• An artist page that includes your bio and picture and lists all your titles.
• A music uploader, so you don't need to send in a CD for your download-only titles.
• The opportunity to use download cards to facilitate digital download sales.

The slight downside is that they have to increase their cut to 29 cents per transaction (to cover the 27cent credit card processing fee).

Before this I had looked into using Paypal's micropayments to sell tracks but it didn't look profitable.

CD President Brian Felsen is asking for feedback on the new system. I'm going to ask him if he can include discount vouchers and/or an affiliate facility.

CD Baby already were able to make your CD available as individual tracks on iTunes. I'm not sure how it works out %-wise in comparison to their new individual track system, but I always thought the fact that they got you onto iTunes was very nice.
