Finding Affiliates and Offering Discount Yourself at Another Site

I am going to launch a couple of services / products in the new year.

I also want to launch a couple of free guides or $1 guides in an exchange for an email with an up sell to my products / services.

To persuade them even more I want to offer the guide buyers a special discount for the 1st year.

However I also want to promote this deal through affiliates and as my service is already low priced the commission might not be interesting enough for them if we let them promote it with this special discount as well.

To illustrate:

- the service will cost $20/month, affiliates who promote it get 50 percent commision
- people who buy my guide get 50 percent discount, eg $10/month they'll pay for the 1st year.

In other words if affiliates would offer the discount as well they would only get $5/month commission instead of $10,-

What do you think of this and how to handle this?

Should I give affiliates the choice to promote it with 50 percent discount to existing people on their list or should I scrap this whole idea and just stick to one price?

Personally I would add more value to the guide maybe a video case study or something? and sell it for something like $9 and offer 100% commissions for Affiliates.
This would also attract buyers who might be more inclined to pay for a $10 monthly service.

Actually the plan is to launch two or three guides:

      Guide 1:

Total noob guide, this guide would contain discounted deals for:

      - my hosting
      - my keyword research tool
      - perhaps $5 free credit for my writing platform

The guide will cover how to install Wordpress, how to add-on a domain to hosting, how to do keyword research without a tool/software and how easier it could be WITH software obviously. How to do basic onpage SEO, how to structure a site, how to find profitable niches, and that kind of basic stuff that we all take for granted but for complete newbie's it can be quite useful to have it all in one place and it increases the chance for me for new hosting clients and kw research tool clients, as well as content clients as people who just start out probably don't even know yet where to get content.

Udemy or what's the name of that platform, inspired me when I saw how many super basic guides they sold, but yeah everyone starts at zero at some point I guess.

      Guide 2:

This will contain more advanced information like site structure, link building strategies, anchor diversity, advanced keyword research, conversion optimization tailored at people who know how to build a site but that need some extra help getting the other things right.

These people I could upsell/softsell my SEO service, an optimization script that I made a JV deal with and obvious they might have content and kw research needs as well.

Good suggestion of the video case study though, there's no reason not to provide a valuable guide for free or for 1 dollar as I will make money from my other services/products so it's important for me that they receive good value from it.

I haven't though about finding affiliates to help promote these guides, the affiliate part is more for the end products.

I think all information should be free, the only reason why I charge $1 is cause people say free guides perceive less value then paid ones, even if it's as low as $1 which is just a symbolic amount really. This $1 might enable me to bump the threads for free, maybe not but it's not my goal to directly make money from guides, indirectly yes sure.

Got you...I thought you were going to release the guide as a WSO and the upsell as your monthly service and you wanted affiliates for the FE product.
