Help me generate MMO domain name ideas

Hiya guys,

I know, I know - another MMO blog!

But I promise, I've got some wicked stuff planned.

Anyways; back to the point.

I've got one little problem holding me back before I begin brain-dump-blogging - a domain name!

To give everyone an idea of the name I'm looking for, I want to make it personal; wherein my persona is my real life self and I'm speaking to the audience. I tried firstnamelastname.com and that wasn't available, so I'm thinking whether I should just do a Matt Woodward and go native country TLD.

Any ideas are definitely welcome and appreciated; the blog will essentially be a collection of detailed methods into MMO, IM, SEO, Affiliate Marketing, idea creation, and any other thoughts I explore within the niche of growing your online business.

Thanks in advance!

You could go a different direction from your standard country TLD, .com, .net, etc...

And go for one of the new extensions: https://www.godaddy.com/tlds/gtld.aspx

Would set you apart a little...

Was thinking about that as well, Mark.

None of those are really jumping out to be honest, however.

To go with a brandable name, consider something like this:

    IMJohnSmith.com

You make a fine play on words: I'm and IM (internet marketing).

Why don't you try a site like Dot-o-mator: Domain & Company Name Ideas Generator to brainstorm ideas.

    Also, don't forget keyword research.

Find a great dot com and don't settle for other extensions. Dot com was meant for commercial businesses and there are many, many great names still available.

Personally, I would stay away from using your name. What if you decide to sell your blog and business someday? The name will be a hindrance to you selling it to someone else.

Go to Impossibility and type in your main keyword. The site will give you hundreds of possible dot com domain names.

A dot com name, all other things being equal, IMO, is preferable to any other TLD and there are tons of wonderful names available.

      Good luck,

That's right, Daniel: Unless you're dead set on a brandable name, consider a name of value.

I rarely buy domains with purely branding in mind. They have there place, of course, but on the whole you need to consider the resale value of a typical website.

Unless you're aiming to own the next Twitter or Bebo, taking domain valuation into consideration is a sensible move.

Learn how to evaluate domain value, based on a quite a bit more than has been mentioned in this thread, and you'll be securing your financial future a little better.
