Hi Warriors...

For the last few months, I've been working on a site. So far, I've got about 120 articles up there, and it's bringing in around 300 visitors a day and earning around £2 a day through Adsense.

I've hit a bit of a brick wall though. I'm not sure which direction I should be taking now, in terms of driving traffic and increasing revenue.

Should I be constantly adding more content? Backlinking? Working on social media?

I'm a bit confused on where to go next, so any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Alex

Wow ... you've been industrious. I'm a "content marketer", myself, but it would take me nearly four years to amass that number of articles on any of my sites.

Well, as you've noticed, publishing content just on your own site isn't really much of a traffic-generation plan at all. You need an enormous amount of content to get traffic that way, and the only traffic it's going to bring you is probably search-engine traffic, which is typically notoriously difficult to monetize anyway ...

No: you've already learned that doing that doesn't help, I think?

No: that can also bring you only search-engine traffic, can't it?

What kind of site is it? How do you plan to monetize it in the long term? It sounds as if you need a traffic-generation plan and a monetization-plan for the site, really?

Does this thread help: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ffic-tips.html ?

Hi Alexa, thanks for your post

Yeah, I've been working pretty hard on getting 1 or two 6-700 word posts up there each day.

It's basically an inspiration site - There are articles featured around a specific keyword, then at the bottom of the article is an image gallery. It focuses on home interior.

I'm just stumped on where to drive traffic from. I think 300 visits a day isn't too bad so far, but I ideally want to get it to the 5000 a day count

    Thanks a lot!

I'm amazed. Why, Alex? What's the benefit of doing that??

I see ... so you've designed it specifically to attract search-engine traffic?

      Visitors from search engines? Why?

Sorry, I probably shouldn't have posted here at all - your name drew me in!!

I don't understand what you're trying to do, or why; apologies.

(Are you hoping/planning to make money from the site, at some point??)

      Hey Alex,

Your article work, assuming that they're unique content, will likely bear more fruit as the site ages and Google affords it more respect.

Getting 5,000 visitors/day is quite a tall order and I suspect that's your target because using Adsense for monetization means that you need volume to make any decent money.

If you want to make money from the site then it's a business and in a business, you need to sell your visitors something. So try to think about a product that would fit your target market. Is there anything on Clickbank? Could you do it better?

A product would definitely make you more money than Adsense and you'd also have a list of buyers to re-market to.

Don't discount Amazon as an affiliate income. Amazon is so good at selling that by merely sending visitors to Amazon you can end up earning commission on unrelated sales. I have an Amazon affiliate site promoting cameras and someone who clicked a link to Amazon went on to purchase a ride-on lawnmower which netted me a handsome commission!

Give yourself a pat on the back - 300 free visitors/day is not too shabby and a springboard to better things. Plus, that 300/day may grow naturally with age as you work on improving the back-end of your business model.

Well I wanted to give the users actual value when they came to the site

Yes, I hope to eventually add an online shop where they can buy many of the decorations I talk about. It's earning around £2 a day from Adsense at the moment, so I hope to continue to increase this, as well as begin to make affiliate product sales perhaps

    Thanks - Great name also

Don't be so obsessed with Google. Like Alexa said promote your content. You don't have to create articles everyday, you only need one or two articles per month. The only thing you need to do everyday is promoting it.

    Everything.

That's your answer: You should be working on everything.

What you need is a system in place, a blueprint, a solid framework that dictates every new piece of content you add to your site; an A to Z system. Doing this increases productivity by removing the doubt of how to operate.

It would literally take me 50,000 words to detail the process we use, so let me give you direction.

    Research:

    - Best content practices
    - Free traffic generation
    - Paid traffic generation
    - Viral marketing

I would start spending more time working on building backlinks as that is what will help you build ranks & should give you some extra sources of traffic. Just start posting on forums, high ranked videos, etc. I would definitely look into adding Amazon & Clickbank products because they can make you more than Adsense.

      Couple thoughts:

      1. Take a look at BrainPickings. It's a massively popular site, and you can bet the owner makes a healthy income from the book recommendations alone. You could do regular reviews of inspirational material and make some bank from Amazon affiliate commissions. Look to extend your brand on Twitter if you're not already doing so.

      2. Create a freebie to give away and start building a list. Then write/outsource a Kindle book aimed at your audience. You could build a big list in short order with that many daily visitors (I'd recommend using LeadPages and LeadBoxes). Then you can hit that list whenever you launch a new book - lots of instant reviews and high ratings and long-term passive income. You could easily create a series of books in the inspiration niche, so I'd thoroughly recommend that route.
