Are you more motivated by...

...success or failure?

My husband & I are starting to do well with making money online (affiliate marketing and keyword sites using adsense). It's been a year of work, research and a lot of hours. During the first year when we weren't sure if it would amount to anything, I was very motivated to keep at it. When a few of our ideas turned out to be a failure, I was more determined than ever. Now that it's going well, I don't have the same drive as I did last year, so it got me thinking....am I more motivated by failure or by success?

What about you?

I'm definitely more motivated by failure. I don't want to fail and once I'm a success I'm going to be motivated to be even more successful for fear of falling backwards.

I say success because I motivate myself to pursue my dreams and goals.

In the past I was more motivated by success than failure.
But now, I am fairly motivated the same by both.

I see success as success and failure as one step closer to success,
so as soon as I fail misserably at something, it motivates me even more
to get started all over again.

More motivated by failure. One has to learn more by failure because they think why he or she fail and correct their mistakes for next time.

All you need is a dream (insert goal) thats big enough to get you up in the morning and keep you up at night. If your not motivated then examine your dreams/goals...

I wonder what motivates those who have fortunes!!!! It's obviously not money, so what about a mission. Define your mission statement and hang it up so you can see it everyday.

Sounds like you've achieved your goal and things are going well. Time to create a new goal.

I admire the drive to make things work after failure. I myself struggle to continue when things don't work out in an unfamiliar territory.

The possibility of success is what keeps me going and when I achieve success (even in the minor tasks) I am motivated to continue on and keep forging ahead.

Good Luck with your future projects.

    Great question Joanne.

Many people aren't really motivated to do something until after they have hit rock bottom. At that point it's more like a wake up call to get yourself in gear.

I would say it works both ways for me. Although sometimes I tend to get a bit lazy when things are going well, like I don't have to work as hard or something. Lately though the success has pushed me to work harder and to keep it up.

I'd have to say that success is better for me. Of course everyone is different. Great question.

For years I was terrified of failure....to the point that I wouldn't take any action at all in fear that I might fail.

I had painted the concept of failure big and bright in my mind - made it something to not only be feared, but avoided at all costs.

In more recent times, I'm finally coming around the idea that success is NOT possible without failure. Failure is simply a tool that can be used to help use "right our course" and narrow things down until we cannot help but become successful.

The more I dig into mindset, the more I'm fascinated by the fact that it, more than any software or tool, is what keeps the majority of people from having the success they so greatly desire.

I am really motivated almost to the point of a crazed maniac when some one tells me I am going to fail or that my ideas wont work

that is why I set my goals so high and tell everyone about them,, then when they tell me it is impossible, I am like a firestorm attacking my goals and destroying every circumstance and barrier in my path..

that's what I like to tell them when I smashed my original goal by half..
