    Okay...

This totally appeals to my inner-geek. Although - not so much inner today, given my Star Wars t-shirt.

I already use an iPad for internet marketing. Not exclusively, obviously, but it services the purpose for a lot of different endeavours. Today, for instance, I've been coaching, writing, and checking PPC campaigns. Will tablets make laptops obsolete? Definitely. The moment they equal or surpass in terms of computing performance, the laptop will begin to go the way of the dinosaur.

I agree, tablets are very advanced these days. Especially the Ipads, they can do virtually all that a laptop can do except for the fact that it can't access others devices. One can definitely monitor anything via tablets. So it can be a great use.

And they are rapidly becoming more and more similar in regards to functionality. (In favor of Tablets.)

Completely agree. You cannot spend hours working on a tablet efficiently and the screens are too small a number of applications (even 11" tablets). Tablet manufacturers are seeing that and are putting out some good docking products.

You can certainly do a certain subset of tasks on a tablet but I view it as a complimentary device unless you invest in in a dock, keyboard, mouse and monitor then you can use a tablet as an all purpose device in different contexts.

I have an Asus tablet running Windows 8.1 along with a Macbook Air laptop. I use my tablet just as much as my laptop for blog posts or setting up Wordpress sites. I even have Photoshop running on my tablet. I recommend a keyboard with the tablet. As long as you have a keyboard, I don't think it makes too much difference. I also have a Windows 8.1 pc at home. But when running around town or traveling I have been relying more on my tablet. I do find a difference with processor intensive applications vs the Macbook Air. Because of this, I am thinking of upgrading to a Surface 3 running either a core 5 or core 7 processor.

Not sure. I use my laptop for creating and consuming all day long, but not in the evening. Especially when I finish a day, hit the sack comfortably then ideas (or emails, maybe) come. Immediately I use a tablet to write down and creative something new, or note down tomorrow schedule.

Right, typing and reading too much on tablets is really frustrating, so internet marketing of tablets can be done, but with a very different content from that on laptops

My thoughts exactly. I'm a geek too (venture to guess a lot of us are).

I have an iPad Air stashed in the drawer so I can do basic stuff like email, blog posts, ect while lounging on the couch watching football games all weekend.

So yeah.... I do use a tablet from time to time.

I sill prefer being in my office on my "real computer" when doing more "in depth" stuff but that's just the way I roll.

We roll alike! (All of the above, especially the portion in bold!)

I need power. I could do much of my work on an iPad, to be honest, but some of my stuff involves video, motion capture, 3D models, so on. I'll be happy when the tablets catch up. I can just see myself wandering around the house, switching on and off lights with it, turning on TVs, tapping into whatever xbox they'll have then, wandering up to the office, flicking through different monitors.

        Apple, get a move on!

Sure, your entire business could be run on a tablet.

Right now you could sign up for Amazon workplaces. Workplaces is a virtualization service that mimics a windows computer. That means you can install all of your programs on that and run it on any tablet you want.

It's as if you were running a windows desktop and it's up and running 24/7.

That only problem is you need decent internet to access it. Running your IM empire requires decent internet anyway.

For me, I tend to work on many things at once an need some power behind my computer.

There is too much money in selling laptops for manufacturers to put everything into low profit margin tablets. They killed off the netbook craze from awhile back because the strong sales of $175 netbooks were eating into $1,000+ laptops too much. They won't let that happen again.

Hybrid laptop-tablets are the future of mobile computing. How far down the road is difficult to predict. They could do it right now, but there's more money in selling everyone a laptop and a tablet separately. The only reason we see Microsoft doing it is because iOS and Android have the mobile market. MS has nothing to lose in that regard.

There's plenty of tasks you can do with a tablet that are Internet Marketing related. If you get a wireless/bluetooth keyboard it can be great for posting in the forum.

Need to check some stats from your sales? Fire it up on the tablet.

I've been thinking that the Surface 3 might be the best tablet for something like this. Since, it's the most like a computer, you can set it down at your desk and hook it up to a monitor, keyboard, and mourse rather easily. Then when you're on the go, just disconnect it and you're ready.

not really and i mean if tablet are so advance then tapatalk and some mobile version of websites won't be needed really. but since it does, it sure won't surpass the need of real computer this includes laptop which therefore can install real software.

i tried installing mt4 apk for my tablet hell no way near to what they've come up to the interface of desktop version. ipad is just a toy i should say.

My personal opinion. It depends on what you're doing and what type of person you are.

In my case, I prefer to use laptop to write content, manage ads, editing and other task that requires full size keyword and a mouse.

I use tablets to consume content, read blog, forum or watching videos.

then again, choose what suitable for you, if you comfortable using tablets for certain task.. then use it.
    Hope this helps

As I see it there is one thing holding back Tablets in everyday use. and that is "Images" The day that Photoshop can run in ALL of its glory, is the day that I retire all of my computers. -- Yes I know there are versions of Photoshop for IOS... but its a image fixer and not an image creator.

As it stands in my personal work flow if I can, I will sit and create all the images needed and then later go in with a tablet with Bluetooth keyboard and add content and create pages, and all of that.

I'd need more than Photochop before I switch over . . . but, I relish the day I can use it on the iPad. You're right in what you say, though. A lot of marketers would be sorted at this point: writing, updating sites, checking campaigns, networking, image work, video work, list management. You could run a business at that point.

Can you write an article 500 words with a tablet?

Can you design an image with a tablet?

Can you install a complicated software / a web template into a web hosting service through a tablet?

You can answer it yourself if you still need a laptop or not.

Yes, you can. I do it. It just depends on the type of tablet you buy. It seems that most of the posters only equate tablets with Apple. Well, then you can't do the things you are talking about.

With a good Windows tablet running Windows 8.1, everything you mentioned is not a problem.

I'm not so sure. For many tasks a tablet has enough power, but the OS and touch interface aren't any good. I just don't see a way of writing an article while having 10 tabs open for research. I could, but it would be slow and frustrating.

Head on. It's terribly difficult to create anything that requires a lot of precision or a lot of going back and forth between applications or webpages on a tablet. That's why they're only great for watching movies, reading emails, etc. Even replying to emails can be frustrating sometimes on tablets.

The netbook died from natural causes: it was a horrible machine: cramped keyboard, awful screen, mediocre performance, etc. I'm wondering how on earth they even thought about releasing it in the first place.

And I certainly don't think people looking for a $1,000+ laptop got mesmerized by the $175 netbook instead. They are just different demographics. Perhaps they were a good alternative to entry level laptops, but not to premium ones.

Windows isn't optimized for tablets. The UI's elements are just too small even for my fingers, and I have average-sized fingers. I'm wondering how a person with large hands must feel.

With the way tablets are advancing I truly think it will increase the amount of internet marketing on the internet. Tablets are much more portable allowing marketers to be highly mobile with a light weight, highly functioning piece of electronic genius at their fingertips.
