How To Monetize Your Passion?

Hello to my fellow Warriors,

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on how to take a hobby or passion and monetize it online?

Personally I think an e-book would probably be the best idea.

Thoughts?

Hit the nail on the head right there.

Clickbank.com is a great place to start...

As they host plenty of niches that would probably match your passion

Perhaps you can start a Blog, Find like minded individuals who share your passion. Write your eBook and offer is as a part of an "opt in" ...build your list. Create value, be honest and live the golden rule.

    The world is your oyster.

    To your success,

Make a couple videos, put them up on YouTube and other video sharing sites.

Keep a link to your eBook in the description

Some simple video marketing should do the trick!

  • It depends on your passion. While downloadable content is the easiest automation wise perhaps your passion is better served with a physical product. The product will determine your distribution method and then you can put together the appropriate marketing/promotion plan.

Did you already check if someone is already selling a product or service for your passion/niche? Clickbank is the best place to start for some research to see if there already is a info product on your hobby.

And if it is something people would buy or products or services are already being offered I would definitely create a ebook or info product. If there are currently no products or services offered for that hobby then you will have to come up with a unique angle to sell your ebook.

Agreed with what Chris said. It is best to first check if there is a market for your hobby or passion.

A quick way to do so is to search for active Forums. To search for forums, use Google and type in "Your Hobby + Forums". If there are many active forums on the hobby, likely there will be a market for the hobby. Join a few forums, see if there are problems or issues people had with the hobby in the discussions. These will gives you ideas to produce products to sell or to promote products that solve the problems.

Another place to check is Amazon.com. Look for books of your hobby or passion. The number of publication will gives you an idea of the market size. Hope this helps and all the best.

    I disagree.
Don't waste your time 'researching' for what you haven't started doing yet.

Just start a blog about it and gather audience. You don't even need to care about what's already in clickbank, amazon, etc. Start writing and giving information, tell people about you, and they will come if there's a value in you.

If I were you, I would create a blog > write quality content on daily/weekly basis > start building email list when I have some traffic.

When you have your list, you can start selling something like a course for example.

It may take a while to build your audience, but it will last longer compared to if you're selling ebook right now when you're 'no one'.

I personally fell into my niche. I tried a lot of different things and found the free money making niche was for me. That was 8+ years ago and I am still passionate about it.

I wouldn't underestimate research. It would be good to enter into the niche having a map and guidelines rather then just jumping in. All major projects should be started with research.

See what demand exists in your niche and who is already satisfying it and how they are doing it. See what kind of problems and questions people have in that nice. Once you have data now write your Ebook.

Give them something different and better than your competition.Give them the answers that they are looking for. Once you have your E-Book see what you want to do next.

you have been given some pretty good tips in this thread. I would like to add one more to the list.

Depending on your nice, create a website with a good squeeze page. Build credibility and an audience and start email marketing.

It really depends on what your passion is - because you can look at other people who have turned that same passion in to a successful business and model after them.

So depending on what you want to do - look for other people that have been successful in that area, and model after them - even contact them and see if there is something that you can do for them (provide value first)...

...a lot of people want to share their success - you'll be surprised ;-)

      Thanks for the insights Zak.

Personally, my biggest passion is playing computer games, but I've had trouble monetizing this (as you can imagine).

I was thinking of writing an e-book about all the different ways I know that this passion can be monetized, not from personal experience, but from my research, ie. becoming a game tester, game designer, professional gamer earning money with Youtube/Twitch ad revenue, sponsorships, tournament money, merchandise sales through Youtube/Website/Other Social Media, etc., writing guides for popular games such as League of Legends, DOTA/DOTA 2, WoW, etc, and having a blog/review site.

      Thoughts?
