Grass Cutting Business

Hello fellow Warriors,

A buddy of mine and I want to start a local grass cutting business for next summer. We were thinking of doing contracts and cutting their grass after x amount of times for the whole summer. Do you guys have any recommendations for me and this sort of business?

I was thinking of starting a nice and simple wordpress website so that they can contact us and we can maybe SEO it to the top for my region, aswell as making the clients give us their email while signing the contract so that we can get recurrent clients and or sell the client base we have to another company the next year if we don't run the business again.

What do you guys think? It's very very brief, but I think you get the idea. Anyone with experience with those type of businesses?

So essentially it's a local business.

Sounds good - and it is a lot easier to rank in the Google SERPS when it is local - for example 'grass cutting in los angeles'.

I'm not too sure about selling the client base to another company - you need to make sure they know you get their permission first or you mention it when they sign up ;-)

How should I go about this business overall? You're right about that email list.

Get neighborhood kids to promote it for you. Offer them $5 for every customer they bring you. Many of them will bug their parents to use you. You'll be surprised how many customers you can generate this way. I knew I guy in California that used this as his sole method of getting business and he had two crews out there doing the work. That was a while back so you might have to up the finder's fee to $10. Good luck.

$10 isn't a lot. Thanks for the input, definitely something that I will keep in mind.

My partner and I question ourselves on how we should organize this business.
