Default Hello all - wholesale advice

Hello everyone, sorry if this is the wrong place to post...

Basically I have a choice of around 10 wholesalers from China that are selling in bulk the product I am looking to sell. All of the wholesalers are offering prices that will result in decent profit according to the research I have done (will be selling in a UK market).

I was just wondering if anyone can offer any advice on the best (quickest delivery, best customer service, best value, offers etc) wholesalers based in China. Or if you have had particularly bad experiences with any. I understand if you'd rather keep some information private if the wholesaler is particularly niche...

Regards,
twf

I've done well with DHGATE dot com

Just make sure you do your due dilligence in terms of who you buy from....and really analyze the feedback.

Thanks VV, that was one of my shortlisted websites! I'll do a bit more research then, wouldn't want to order 1000 units and find out the company has just gone bust and can't deliver!

This is an extremely difficult question to answer as fraud is rampant. Normally, they will require 100% T/T and therefore it is best that you start with a small order. In fact, you should make a sample order first to see what the product is like first. It is very difficult to look into the background of the company if you are based overseas. That was why we preferred to deal with suppliers in Hong Kong when we had a shop. When we first bought directly from China, my wife purposefully made a visit to their factory. She found that it only had two large benches but the products and their service turned out to be alright.

As far as shipping is concerned, there are a number of options ranging from the very expensive e.g. UPS FEDEX, less expensive such as EMS or air parcel, or you can use a freight forwarder but you would have to clear the customs youself. Normally, the factory would be able to tell you the options available.

Hi twf

I cant give you a list of good/bad wholesalers, mainly because i dont know what you want to sell :-)-

BUT.. i can offer advice..

what i used to do is, find suppliers via alibaba then contact them, and ask if they have dealt with anybody else in the UK, and then ask for reference, get contact numbers for people they deal with in UK etc...

That will help determine wether or not they are good or bad.. or do a PUNK with your money.. and runnnn

Thanks dan and derek, this is all really helpful info! I will do a test order with a few of the wholesalers, I think, and see how it goes. I like the look of DHgate and there are a fair amount of reviews for that but if I decide to make a large order I will look on alibaba first and contact one of their users if I can, thanks.

The product is in electronics - although I want to sell various brands of the product there is one partuclar brand which I feel could be sold in the UK for a very good profit (at the moment anyway as they deal in US$ for overseas so depends on currency rates). Would it be worth contacting the company itself to see if they will do a bulk order deal? I'm a bit wary as the company is small and I have only ever purchased single units from them.

Yes, i would contact the company first and see if you can get direct from them.

Keep in mind, various branded stuff that comes direct from China could be replicas, so just keep that in mind. Make sure you know what your dealing with before making any business commitments.
