Looking for some advice- this is my first time!

Hi guys, first off if this is in the wrong place I am sorry in advance. I tried to look where to post but wasn't sure. I am very new to building websites. This is my first shot at building a site. I have two domains I am currently building. My one site is about electronic cigarettes and it is called vapespin dot com. I don't know if we are allowed to post links but I was wondering if I can get some feedback for the site. It is just a start and I really wanted to get some help/ ideas before I go further. I only have one post but several pages. I am trying to do something similar to gotsmok dot com. If anyone has the time to check it out and see what you think so far that would be great. Again I am new to this forum so I don't want to break any rules so if I did please let me know!

Hi Josh. Welcome to the Warrior Forum!

I'm going to be critical because you're not going to get anywhere only being told what you want to hear.
    1. First things first, you should have a monetization and traffic plan in place already. If you don't have one yet, that should be your number one priority.
    2. Start collecting emails ASAP. I recommend using GetResponse.
    3. Get rid of most of your advertisements. You almost have more advertisements on your site than you do pages - 13 ads a page is a bit ridiculous. With that many options, people aren't going to click on any of them.
    4. Clean up your sidebar. Add an opt-in form.
    5. You only have one post so far so it's hard to judge your content, but you'll want to write more. Your competition is going to blow you out of the water if you're just rewording the sales page and they're providing some actual new info.
    6. Write more articles.
    7. Don't try to be like another site - take your own approach.

    Best of luck.

Thanks for your help! Yea i know I need tons more I just started just wanted to see what you thought. I thought that many ads was crazy too but all of the successful sites in e-cig business have them lined up in the sidebars. The problem with the e-cig thing is there are tons and tons of different sites to buy from, as there are many different products and e-juice flavors. So maybe just a couple ads on side and do a product review on each company? The top site gotsmok makes a killing just posting deals all day long. I wanted to do deals but also real reviews. Anyway thanks again. I want critical for sure because anything less is useless so thanks for that! Is the theme ok or what do you think of that?

    Hi Josh,

I agree with James. Please let me echo what he said about collecting email addresses for your list....offer a reason for your visitors to sign up to your list (free report, discount, product, updates, something). Get Response is a fine company...I use Aweber which has worked flawlessly. I'm not sure what your budget is...but Mail Chimp is free at first and can get you started.

Remember, you have about 3 seconds to make an impression on your visitor...at that point they will decide to stay or go. Given your home page...they will leave in two. More Quality content and fewer ads. Keep working on it. On a good note, I like your logo..its unique and fitting. Your color scheme is welcoming and engaging.

    To Your Success,
    -Terrance

Thanks! I was worried about the logo, I like it I just wasn't sure. I don't really know how to create a sign-up subscribe feature. Can anyone help me with info on how to put this onto the site?

        Hey Josh,
I had a 'Quit Smoking' blog a few years back. It was a tough cookie to crack.

        Lots of competition.

Eventually, I let it go as I had no passion towards this Niche.

Stick with it. Do reviews and also build a List that you can offer advise and pitch really solid products to.

        Good luck.

Hey Josh, I'll bookmark you - fellow vaper here - going on two years analog-free!

Your site does have a nice color scheme. I don't see that it's that much different from most other sites with the 101 info (which of course should be there), reviews, etc. I see you're doing affiliate links - I like the "Get This Deal Here" on the Kayfun page. It looks like a purchase button and I've heard of Health Cabin, so not some fly by night you're working with. Your social media links in your header graphic are swallowed up halfway by the main body frame of your site on my screen. You may need to look at that.

I think your best bet is to get heavily involved in the ECF site and use it to drive traffic, making an effort to contribute and not be spammy. Good luck to you!

ETA: Reddit e-cig subreddit might be another good place to market.

I actually think it's a really nice site.
    Great design and everything

But, I guess this depends on what your goals are with your site. Because that would impact how the site must look.

Hi Josh agree with what has already been said. It cant be over emphasized enough that your site needs to add value to your visitors so it is a pleasnt experience and they get something out of it when they visit and dont feel as if they are being screamed at to BUY BUY BUY . You want to build a relationship with them so you need to collect email addresses and even set up a facebook page to get more interaction with them Good Luck

You do have a favicon, but no title tag? I guess that's the first thing you need to put in there.
