MS Outlook Problem -- Help?

Hi Warriors,

Several weeks ago, I upgraded from MS Office 2003 to MS Office 2007. All of the programs work except Outlook. When I open it, it runs for several seconds and then says that the contact manager has encountered an error and needs to shut down. I haven't been able to open Outlook at all since I upgraded!

I mostly keep my e-mail on Web-based Squirrel Mail so it hasn't been a huge deal to me. But I have some e-mails stored in Outlook (2003) and I now can't access at all because Outlook (2007) won't open!

I'm buying a laptop from an independent dealer and he told me that I just need to get an MS update from Microsoft's site. He's offered to do it for me if I bring the tower in, but it's heavy for me to carry. (I'm small and not very strong.)

Can someone here tell me how/where to download/install the fix? I rarely use Outlook, but I really need to access some messages and now that I can't, it's driving me CRAZY!

I'd appreciate any help anyone can offer. I'm not techie at all and am completely confused by this problem.

Thanks so much,
Michelle

I can't help you with Outlook, but a possible solution would be to install Thunderbird and import your Outlook messages.

    Go to http://office.microsoft.com/en-ca/ou...487751033.aspx

In the upper right corner there is a check for updates link

That Should be all you need.If it doesn't work try doing a search in quotes for the error message

    Try site:microsoft.com ERROR MESSAGE

This works well in some cases. Someone else likely had the same problem.

Why dont you ask that tech to send you the link instead, and list of instructions on what to do?

The first link that Cerverus posted should do it. Also you can set your windows updates to update office as well which is a big help keeping everything running smoothly. Can't remember just how you get to it, but it is one of the few options you have with Windows update and it is something like selecting 'update other as well.'

If the ms office install you did was from a cd or a dvd, it could be a bit behind times and in need of the update right at the moment of the install.

If the update doesn't do the trick, try using Windows Mail (Vista) or Outlook Express (XP) instead. You should be able to import the emails fairly easily.
