Moving a forum from SMF to PHPBB

I am not technically minded, but I can follow instructions.

I have a forum at the moment which is SMF but I want to move it to phpBB because I am changing over to LFM and it automatically signs up people to both the membership area and phpBB.

I have a lot of posts already at the SMF and don't want to lose them, how do I move everything across?

My plan is to move it and see that it is working before deleting the old forum.

Hi Bev,

I presume you mean SMF?

PHPBB have a community of developers who create plugins, I don't know what version you're running, but here's a link to their forum and a convertor:

If it's not the same version, dig around the forum or their search - there's a lot there

Hi Bev,

Have you thought about modifying LFM to interface w/ SMF instead?

SMF is a good platform. If you have a good number of users and a lot of valuable posts, I'd hate to see you lose them.

An interface for new signups is less risky than a conversion from SMF to phpBB
