Do Affiliates Get Upset When the Price Goes Up?

I have an eBook project that I've had on the backburner for quite a while. Part of it is almost completely done, but other parts are still in progress. And, as I said, it's been on the backburner, so I haven't done anything on it in a while.

So, I was thinking of the old adage from Guy Kawasaki: "Don't worry, be crappy." And, I thought I could at least put the finished bits to work for me. I could wrap up the part that is almost completely done, and put it up for sale. That will also allow me to build up my list.

I was thinking I could put up what I have now for maybe $17 or $27--not sure of the price yet, as I have to really go over what's done and ready.

I don't know how many affiliates I might get at those prices with a 75% affiliate commission, but my thought is just getting the eBook out there and not really worry about how many affiliates I end up with.

Then, when the project is all complete, I would replace the version 1.0 eBook with the more comprehensive version 2.0 eBook, and up the price to $37. I haven't decided yet whether to offer that as a free upgrade to existing buyers, or offer it as a $10 upgrade or something.

What I don't want to do is to sell two editions, like a basic package and a premium package. For this particular project, I just want one package.

At any rate, what I'm concerned about is whether affiliates would be upset if the price jumps from $17-$27 to $37. My feeling is that they'd be happy to be getting a little extra money at the new price level and that it shouldn't really be an issue, especially if I give them some advance notice of the price increase so they can adjust their promotions accordingly.

Then again, people can be hard to predict! Anyone have any experience or feedback on this issue? Thanks!
