Is This A Better Way To SHop Online To get A Better Bargain ?
I have thoughtup an idea and need your feedback.
Every website, be it a personal one or a commercial one, wants to track their visitors to know:
* which country the visitor was from
* what keywords he/she used to get to the site
* etc.
and they harvest all these stats in order to understand what the visitors are searching for and where their customers are coming from so they don't waste time and money advertising on the wrong places.
My idea is to help these sites locate the visitor and make money.
Ok. So trackers tell a lot about the visitor but never their email address.
Had the tracker revealed their email address then that would save a lot of time from checking stats and doing guess work where the visitor came from and what they were looking for as you you can simply email them and ask.
Ok, visitors don't leave their email addersses around from site to site and so the next best thing we have right now is to put virtual assistants with a chat box to appear infront of the visitor as a host and ask "How may we help you ?".
But chat softwares eatup bandwidth and the visitor might be using a low bandwidth or slow connection.
And so, I thoughtup this idea. I have a feeling you people won't like it for "privacy reasons".
Imagine, I'm the visitor. I just visited your webpage selling gold necklaces because I want to gift it to a wedding. Your website tracker stats reveal a visitor from such a country visited and shows you the referring url (the webpage I came from to your "gold necklace" webpage).
Now, you click that referral link and checkout the page from where I entered your website. You hope to see a blog post or a classified ad of your's to get a feeling which ad of your's or link trading partner is sending you leads. But to your surprise, you see:
* a profile page of mine (spelling out to you what my "tastes" and "interests" are.
* a profile page mentioning what I am currently searching for.
* a profile page that lists the keywords I'm using on the searchengines.
Now, all that would tell you something right ?
But, your tracker tells you all this anyway. So, what's the big deal ? Here's the killer ...
* a profile page listing all the sites I visited and left (dumped). (Now, you can check what I dislike and maybe tailor a custom package to make a sale here ?
* a profile page listing reasons why I hit the BACK button on your competitions sites.
* a profile page with a MESSAGE BOX to contact me. That's the killer!
Now, you can tailor a pack suitable for me and message me.
But hey man, it can't be that easy. You got to pay up here somehow. And so, your commercial message would only arrive to me once you hit the ORDER BUTTON and pay the "contact price". Ofcourse, the message size would be limited as I don't want to be reading a book instead of a 5 line sales ad.
Remember, my email, as a consumer, is not disclosed here. All you see is a message box and you use that to contact me just like you contact a seller on the classifieds who's ad you just read. It's no different to a classified site in that many ways. In classfied sites, you read a seller's ad and message him a question about the 2nd hand car his selling via the message box beneath his ad. Only difference is, my idea's system would only sendout the message to the consumer once you the seller have paid up a price to message the consumer. Payup HIS/HER PRICE. Like $3/mssg to deter time wasting sellers who don't have what the consumer wants. This is better than those trashy "pay per email read" programs who pays you a lousy few cents to read commercial emails at a time you're not interested in shopping for anything. Wrong timing BUSINESS FOLKS when you use these services to send your commercial emails. Most email readers (members) are probably not interested in what you got to sell. They just want to earn the peanut prices!
I think this is a good idea. The business finds the visitors profile page listed as the referral link. Business clicks over to the referral link and reads the consumer's shopping (search) habit so he doesn't offer the same as his competitions who got dumped. And, tailors a package suitable for the buyer based on his "surfing history". No need to install spywares on peoples's computers to monitor their surfing habits. Just get your tracker and the buyers' profile pages giving you all the valuable data in one peace to help you tailer the most efficient pack and sell. What better way to find a lead ?
The only CON is that, once you, as a seller, visit all those other links (I have visited and HIT the BACK button), you'd be landing on your competition pages to check what I disliked about their pages and products enough to hit the BACK BUTTON and they'd be wasting a lot of bandwidth due to competition visits. But hey man, if you open a high street store, what's stopping a competition standing nearside your potential customer and checking out what she's interested in buying to get an idea which of your products sell to lower their prices on that same price or even order that same product from a supplier which they currently don't sell ? You can't stop competitions flooding through by your doors, offline or be it online!
Why I thoughtup this idea ?
You know how long it takes to find a suitable 2nd hand car to buy ? 12hrs a night for 3 months! Don't forget the insurance searching, etc.
Same goes when you're searching for hotels and car rentals and when you want to change your phone, gas and electricity supplier!
In short, when it comes to shopping online, I want to get the lowest at the best quality AND without spending too much time shopping and I believe so does everybody else! It's just people don't have time at their hands to be shopping 12hrs online and so they just pick whatever comes by. They won't, if a service like this starts up. I reckon consumers would flock to the service. I mean, just look how the "price comparison sites" are fairing. My idea is just one step further for a better way of shopping.
This kind of service, a social network, a some sort of shopping portal, can be managed by a php script. (I'm no php programmer).
Help consumers find the best, at the least time spent, and rake in profits and bargains for all 3 sides. That's my motto.
Ok, now the big question. Who gets the payment for the commercial email ?
Well, part of it can go to the buyer and part of it to his uplines.
Ah! But, wouldn't Tom, Dick and Harry open profiles and start visiting millions of sites with a bot just to get millions of sites contacting them and sending them commercial emails that Tom, Dick and Harry won't read but trash as soon as they generated the pay ?
Well, the system can only pay once the commercial emails been read and the buyer has atleast bought from one of the commercial email senders. That's proof Tom, Dick and Harry are really consumers and not just in it for the money.
As for shoppers, you won't have to spend hrs upon hrs browsing sites searching for your perfect product. You'll just update your profile what you're searching for or the service will monitor your searches and update your profile on auto listing what you're searching for and you'll PROBABLY have traders lining up for your custom fighting over backwards with each other to lower their prices and maybe add a few freebies here and there to beat the competition. Yo get more than you would have had you shopped the traditional way. Ok, that's just my opinion, anyway. But, what's your's ? (I got carried away to kill 3 birds with 1 stone)!
Q1. From a business point of view, do you reckon this service would be a good idea to find leads ?
Q2. From a shoppers point of view do you think this would be a good idea to save time shopping and have the sellers come searching for you with the product you are searching for at a bargain price rather than you search for the sellers ?
Get sellers fighting over each other, like a bid, to win you over. Let them see what the other is offering so they keep bidding up more benefits for you.
