Converting Pinterest users..??

Hi folks.

Starting to get my head around Pinterest. Getting followers by following niche related pinners is handy enough.

What I'm less clear about is strategies to convert these folks into website visitors. Obviously the link juice is great, but what methods are there to entice people to your site?

Let's say I have a hypothetical content-site about surfing, with affiliate links etc etc..

So I guess, what makes a good pin/board?

Do you make new pins or pin website page that already exist?

Also, if I put my URL in the detail section of many pins, do I run the risk of being flagged?

Please excuse my Pinterest noobishness....

Thanks for any tips ...

Honestly, Making money on Pinterest really depends on the Niche. Fashion niches tend to convert reasonably well but you won't make many sales in the Internet Marketing niches. That being said, pinterest can create a ton of backlinks, which can get you loads of indirect traffic and sales.

I haven't tried to sell products on Pinterest (although can be a gold mine for some niches).
I think you will succeed with more "unusual" niches, because people do not go on Pinterest to buy things (however, I can be wrong).
I think you can make some sales there if you can make the right people to follow you. It's quite easy to get followers, buy I don't really know how much people will be interested in buying your products.
I don't think you will get your pins flagged for putting your URL in details section (if Pinterest allows you to insert your links there, it is probably because they are OK with it).

Let's wait the reply of somebody who already has more experience with Pinterest marketing.

Well, I add new pins by choosing "The Web" option and and also I repin the esxisting pins from different pinners to the appropriate boards that I've created for a specific category/topic.

As per my knowledge, You can't add direct affiliate links in the pin description, but you can add links to blog posts and landings pages.

You can create multiple boards on different categories. It's better to keep your boards relevant to a specific niche/topic. This way you can get targeted followers and hence more targeted traffic to your site/blog.

    Hope it helps

direct affiliate links <<<< that depends , there are services that convert the link until it pressed converts back to the affiliate links..

      example

this is a cheap jumper unreal price url: goes to a website that converts that url to
      the affiliate link.

      every think exists.

    What's up man,

This would actually be really easy! Simply find cool products all around the internet, slap on a picture on a board/pin in your pinterest account and then include a link back to your website for those who are interested in purchasing it.

Also, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Forums, Google+ and Tumblr would tremendously help your traffic and sales. Give it a try!

The photos have to be enticing to get them to repin or visit your site. You have to get into the mindset of the typical pinterest user. Very female oriented: lots of moms. Things like fashion, food/recipes, inspiration, lose weight tips, planning a wedding, cute animals. If you are in a niche that doesn't appeal to that demographic, it will be harder to convert them. On one of my sites, half of my traffic comes from pinterest because it's been repinned by lots of people and it appeals to a certain percentage of the average pinterest user. I tend to use at least 4 photos per blog post and pin them all. Make sure they are high quality and are appealing. I don't use affiliate links in my pins. Just pin photos from my sites that have affiliate links in the post. If they are interested in the subject matter, they will be more likely to buy.

Oh also, repin and follow users in your niche. Your boards shouldn't just be your pins. In your surfboard example, follow other boards in that niche and repin. Most will follow you back. You should have a nice ratio on your boards of other peoples pins. You want your boards to be visually appealing so you get more followers and more website traffic. Good luck!
