Niche Site Project Management

Very overlooked topic in my opinion if you have a businessmodel where you continiously build, maintain and maybe flip niche sites and smaller authority sites.

There's a bunch of project management software, team apps like Asana, Excel for basic info, Rank Trackers, ManageWP, Togglr etc, but they all add up and it's easy to get lost in what to do with what site, keeping track of earnings, affiliate programs, alerts, updates, writers, linkbuilding, social media etc.

I am considering creating my own software, but perhaps there is software already or a combination to limit the amount of apps and spreadsheets open at one time.

Hmm good question. Right now I use TeamworkPM for project management for clients, very easy to use and keep track of the team, status, etc. Though you have the same problem... you have to use other things to stay organized. I have Excel spreadsheets to keep track of domain renewals, client logins, etc. A different spreadsheet for recurring payments...revolving budget.

I personally only use toggl to keep track of my focus. If I feel like I'm not being productive I will log every activity I do to see any leaks in time management.

    Hootsuite for social media...

I see your point, LOL. I never really thought much about it since it's been working well for me, but it would be extremely convenient to have it all in one place.

      Yes, that's good tools.

The challenge if you're running a significant amount of sites is simply the time it takes to log in and out of Analytics, check rankings, check ManageWP, check your writers, check earnings.

Not a problem with 1 or 5 sites but with 30 it becomes a big task. It would be extremely helpful to have one dashboard pull all those metrics by API or scraping into one easy overview which could give you alerts, say if a site is earning less than 50% of usual or if traffic is down or if a task from Asana is overdue etc.

Oh I understand... I have a TON of client websites, along with my own websites, scattered through multiple hosts, some dedicated, a few VPS and some resellers. Just keeping track of cpanel and FTP logins can be a hassle. Then you get into Analytics and everything else, it can be a nightmare when you think about the time you lose just from logging in and logging out. LOL.

I have my CRM (nutshell), Teamwork for project management, toggl for personal use, Hootsuite, brightlocal, numerous excel spreadsheets, tons of txt files in my dropbox, analytics, etc.

I would think it would be relatively easy pulling all this data via API. I wouldn't think it would take too long to code all these features. Maybe 3 months for personal use, and 6 months to do a commercial launch.

I don't know much about building software, always wanted to learn, but I could probably create a web based solution... SaaS type build, if I had enough time to do it.

we had a total of 200 niche sites at one point. We had a bunch of shared excel sheets, and used red booth for project management. But year, we were missing a more "all-in-one" tool too..
