Should I Use Affiliate Marketing for this Product?

.

I'm new to Affiliate Marketing and wondering if I should use it to sell my product.

a) Are any of the 'Sign up Free' affiliate networks worthwhile?

b) If so, what are some good ones?

c) Without an upfront fee, how are the affiliates assured of being paid for their sales?

d) My product is a unique phone charger - JumperCard - A charging device that fits in your wallet It sells for $39.95. What should an affiliate be paid?

e) Should I ban foreign?

f) Do I provide the creative?

g) Any problems or scams I should be aware of?

Thanks!

I can offer a few little thoughts about some of your questions. I'm replying "as an affiliate" (and not even in this kind of niche), not "as a vendor", though - and I don't know where is going to be best for your product.

The serious, pro-affiliates you want will mostly judge that according to their perception of "payment reliability", as determined by the history of the network you choose to use. Nobody wants to be dependent on a vendor they don't know for their payments.

If I were in your sort of niche, I'd want too big a percentage for it to be viable for you (probably 50%+) to promote it seriously in the same sort of way that I promote a $39 ClickBank product. On the other hand, it's the sort of item I'd promote "among other things" as an Amazon item (from which I'd get only 8%), because promoting low-cost, low-commission items from Amazon has other benefits for me, in addition to "just the commissions". But I'd never promote it through another network as a "separate thing in its own right" for that sort of percentage. I'd guess that this won't be an atypical reaction from "serious affiliates".

I'd think not. (How would you know who's "foreign" anyway? And plenty of "foreign affiliates" market to the US anyway. I'm "foreign", from your perspective, but I promote plenty of US things to US customers.)

Up to you. You'll get more affiliates, probably, if you do. But I suspect that the affiliates likely to make the most sales won't be terribly concerned, either way.

There was a product just like yours reviewed in the (UK) Sunday Times, the other day. It was the first time I'd seen/heard of it, but I did read it, thinking something like "Could be a very good product with a big potential market, and quite interesting".

Conclusion: I don't know, but it's certainly far from instinctively obvious that that could/should/would ever be a "main marketing method", for this? Deals with retailers and/or mail-order catalog businesses are surely going to be much better for you, overall, with this sort of product, than individual online affiliates? It looks to me like exactly the kind of item successfully promotable through retail mail-order catalogs?

Sorry - a lot of words from me but probably very little if any real help. Good luck with it, anyway!
