Dear warriors, I was wondering, what's the different between newsletter and follow up messages? both are things we will give to our subscribers once they're subscribe, right? which one more effective to build customer's loyalty? thanks! |

Robson The way I always employ them is like this: Follow-Up E-mails A series of helpful tips and/or expansions on what's in the product they just ordered. The idea with the follow-up series is to start building a relationship (helping the reader) and also to get them to consume the product. Usually, the follow-up e-mails end after a few weeks. Newsletter The newsletter carries on the relationship, by providing content and resources on a regular basis. Also, whereas the follow-up series starts when a reader first subscribes - and thus is delivered at different times to different readers - the newsletter is sent on a specific day. So, you can provide updates, niche news, product release information, and other timely tidbits. \ |

Lots of subscribers expect to get a regular newsletter so to get all the relevant info across and so that all members get the same message rather than missing out list owners will add it as a follow up message rather than a broadcast. Then say if message 4 is a newsletter as soon as the member reaches that message they will receive it by email without you having to re-send it. kind regards sam X |

One thing Sam forgot to mention... If you are going to put a newsletter issue into your pre-set sequence, be careful about any date-related content. Even big companies forget this. I just got a warning from one about a sale I was about to miss - only the sale ended last year... |

Hi Robson, Though Kevin has clearly explained the difference between Follow-up messages and Newsletters i would like to explain them in my way. Follow-Up message: They most likely contain static messages as kevin said the tips, do's and dont's, suggestions, guides and e-course to share the knowledge. Newsletters: Newsletters on the other hand contain dynamic and more fresh data than the follow up messages. Say,you have decided to send a promotion message to your list, you can easily do it with the newsletter, or if you would like to share any current or upcoming event with each and everyone of your list even with somebody who has joined a year ago, newsletter will do the job for you. Hope you have got a picture about the whole thing. |

The way I see it is, follow-up messages have a set amount and end after they've all gone out. A newsletter is ongoing and is more current and up to date. |
