New to the world of IM

Hi all,
I am new to the world of Internet marketing. I think I'm a little too late to get into the game given the fact that I'm 27, dead broke, no college degree, and surviving on credit card. I was recently laid off and have been job hunting for the past 8 months now. Getting a regular job is really tough these days and I am literary giving up. It is very depressing and I am pretty much given up after having applying over 500 jobs. With that said, I'm giving internet marketing a try and would like to see how far I can get through with hard work. Right now, I want to start out from scratch meaning having no money and knowledge of internet marketing. What can you guys suggest me as far as giving me advice and skills. I would love to hear form you all. God Blessed.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but my suggestion is that you use the "search" feature here. There are dozens of questions just like yours that have already been answered and you're less likely to attract the attention of shady MMO operators that only see you as an easy mark.

One thing I will say is that internet marketing is a business -- and like any new business starting out in IM an exercise in deferred gratification. What that means is that you'll likely earn less than minimum wage for weeks, months, years or even your entire lifetime. How long depends largely on your skills (which you can develop with time and practice), your talents (which you're either born with or not) as well as a fair bit of luck. That said, getting started in IM can be very cheap -- lots of business models require under $100 of investment -- so if you've got time to burn (and stay away from all the Get Rich Quick schemes) it might be worth trying. But if you're looking for a quick and easy way to get out of your financial morass, you're probably better off spending your time filling out job applications.

If you're willing to work hard, it can be done. I've seen it more times than you would believe.

Here's what I'd do in your situation:

    1. Familiarize yourself with the different business models.
    2. Locate free systems. (Many exist.)
    3. Select one you think you can pull off.
    4. Confirm that it works by seeing what others are saying.
    5. Take action.
    6. Don't stop until you have it working.

Some of the required elements of working online:

    - Constant education
    - Hard Work
    - Sacrifice
    - Investment (when you can)
    - Creativity.

It requires talent, too. Many will have you believe that this is a job anyone can fall into. It isn't. I could probably write 50,000 words on how hard it is, but if you have what it takes, stick at it, you'll make it. Believe it or not, it may not even take long. I'm guessing even 50 bucks a day would come in handy right now.

What happens when your credit card is maxed out?

Being broke, having no skills, AND about to lose your life line (credit card) is not a good recipe for success. Are you in the US? Does it snow where you are? Maybe you can shovel some driveways and sidewalks for some money.

Time is not on your side... so you better at least figure out a short term solution to your lack of income, while learning the ropes in IM.

Once i read that you were living off a credit card, I was just like "uh oh..."

I would check this guy out : www.youtube.com/kinghuman

He is a Youtuber dedicated to teaching people how to make money online. I would take a look at his vids if i were you. Or you could use the search tool up above.

    Good luck!

Sounds like a classic Jeff Paul story. Hopefully you can come out of the ditch the way that Jeff did. If you have no money, you need to raise money somehow. Here are a few ideas:

    1) Give plasma

    2) Give blood

    3) Give sperm (if you're a guy)

    4) Find the local "Labor Ready" in your area

    5) Ebay it baby!

    6) Don't go to a pawn shop

    7) Live your future now

Get some money, get a niche and a site, some backend products, etc (that you will learn), and learn how to make money online. If you have to go home to parents/relative for a while, then do it. It may be shameful now, but they will glorify you went you're making that paper. Good luck cuz.

So this is what you would recommend to someone that just lost their job and is living on credit cards with no IM experience?

Did you forget the costs associated with this:
-Buying a domain (to create lead capture pages)
-Learning how to create lead capture pages or buying software that will create it
      -Buying hosting ($10+/month)
      -Buying an auto responder ($30/month)
-Buying TRAFFIC (to build your list)

And building a responsive list of thousands of customers can take many months. Not to mention the huge learning curve for someone starting from scratch in IM.

First of all, I can say that being in your current position has a silver lining. You will simply be more motivated and dedicated to climbing out of your situation and more likely to become successful than somebody who is sitting comfortably.

Secondly, I would say that you need to have an UNDYING THIRST for knowledge. The online money making gig is one that constantly changes and one where you NEVER stop learning.

Read as many threads on here as you can until you find a particular method/business model you would like to pursue and then simply read, read, read as much as you can on it. If you are broke, try getting books from your library that are fairly recently published books. This saves you shelling out for WSO's at this point, which you can start purchasing once you get some money under your belt.

For some relatively quick cash that won't cost you anything to get started in, I would suggest creating an account on Fiverr and offering ANY type of service that you are good at and that fills a need for people. In addition, if you can write articles well, create an account at iwriter.com and start writing good quality, original articles for people. Just these two places could easily bring you $100 a day if you can prove yourself.

I'm not going to wish you luck, because luck is for the lazy. Work and study hard and I hope to see you glued to these forums and around here for the long term.

p.s. Don't believe everything you read here or anywhere else for that matter. Take everything with a grain of salt until you begin to understand and differentiate who and what is trying to help you and who is just trying to take your money.

    Are you healthy?
Are you free from felony charges?
    Do you have minimal tattoos?

Given your...situation...I'd advise you to enlist in the military if you answered "yes" to the questions.

IM isn't something you can pull off given your situation and background. Others might tell you differently, but that's the truth.

If you're disqualified from military service, then your best bet would be day labor, a staffing agency, panhandling/street performing, or odd jobs. Not IM. Definitely not. Sorry.

    Best of luck to you.

The military is an option....if your situation is as desperate as you say...IM me and I will give you all the info you want about joining the military (I was an award winning Army recruiter for some years).

As far as IM is concerned...I would follow Tom's Advice (GRM). This is a business like any other...you can achieve...the trick is to avoid the time wasters and "shinny rock" syndrome.

I must also echo the use of the Search box....it has ALL been asked here...you can literally build your business plan off of forum responses. Add some friends....the kind that actually reply to your questions...they will be worth their weight in gold.

Lastly...if the wolf is at the door...get all of the assistance you can...you can build you internet empire much faster when your not hungry!!

If you need help...I will assist all I can. This is the "golden age" of internet marketing and MMO....make your own future my friend.

      God Bless.....and to your success,

      -Terrance

If you have no money or experience, my recommendation is to find a new job (or part time job) ASAP and then work on freelancing.

When you're in a desperate state of mind (I know because I was in almost the same situation as you just 12 months ago), you are not fit to start IM (esp with no knowledge, experience, or network).

One browse at the WSO section and you might develop "magic button syndrome" and get a bunch of false hope that you could make thousands of dollars next week without any money invested.

The truth about IM is that it takes most people months (and years) to even make their first penny online.

So the best method (for you) is to start building your freelancing portfolio, get some clients, and work your way up from there. There is very little money needed to get started so that's what makes it a great starting point. It also teaches you a huge secret about succeeding in IM...becoming a seller rather than a buyer

As far as advice get a goal and fully throw yourself in pursuit of achieving that goal; you will have some uncertainties but keep focus on that main goal.

If internet marketing is your goal, try and learn everything about IM. Don't be afraid to FAIL.

There are many websites that you can learn IM from. I will give you 2.

Really? 27? I WISH I had started at 27. Instead, I started at 39 and on welfare. And a few of the top marketers I know were older than that when they started.

'nuff said about that. Now follow some of the advice in this thread and don't look back.

I would not expect IM to start paying the bills right away especially if you have no budget to spend.

However, there are plenty of free tools and learning to be had to get you started, just find some income (fiverr, freelance, etc....) to float you while you ramp up.

I would suggest that you move to another location where you can get a job. This internet marketing game is a business.

Somewhere out there is a job with your name on it.

You have got to go where the jobs are.

In IM you will not start making money instantly. Sounds like you need money now. This is an industry where you plant seeds today and reap later down the road.

If you try to make money here by putting out desperate energy, this will not work no matter what you do.

For now, I am doing some construction job, momentarily. I know that IM is not a easy path to success and hell it has more percentage of failure vs having your set of store business. I would still like to learn many aspect of IM and see how far I can get. I know some people from my high school who are doing pretty well with IM but they will not even tell me how to get started.
