PayPal Order Forwarding Question

Someone buys a downloadable product using a 3rd party shopping cart and settings set in paypal to forward the buyer directly to the downloads page after the purchase is made.

The following screen shot shows the beginning of the issue where a person places their order through paypal and they are brought to this screen.

No auto-forwarding occurred so we have to click the link to get to the next screen which is this:

If we click on the "email address" which is the live link, it takes us to the product download page like it's supposed to. It's just a multi-step way of getting there. So, my questions are:

1. What setting are we missing in paypal setup that bypasses all of this and just takes the buyer to the upgrade from screen #1 to download page?

2. If they MUST go to this intermediary page on screenshot #2, how do we change that link from an email address to be the company name or maybe something like Go to Download Area Now >>

This is something that would be best suited for the Paypal Support

Howdy, Can you PM me your sales page. There should be a return variable... or if its done by WooCommerce or Jvzoo , Warrior Payment etc... They use something called IPN.

Happy to point you to right direction if you like.

Haven't received any PM yet.. And FYI. This is not a PayPal issue. This is a payment processor.. that third party's code issue.. ( OR maybe its just not working on some browser )

I have a dedicated manager from PayPal :, so i know

The problem you are having is that the shopping cart you are using is not forwarding the return url in the order link.

So you need to login to your PayPal account and click on Profile.

    Then click "My Selling Tools"

    Next click "Website preferences" "update"

Make sure autoreturn is turned on and then input the url for your download page into the "Return URL" text box.

Then scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Save"

Then test again and see if this solves your problem.

You will need to check the shopping cart settings because it may not be passing the download page url in the correct field in the order button.

So you really need to get support from the shopping cart company.

I hope this has been helpful,

Of course, this only works if you are ONLY selling 1 product and therefore always want ALL of your buyers returned to the same download page...

If you are using a sales system like RAP, JVZoo, Warrior Plus, etc. they should have a means for you to supply a unique return (download) URL for each product to be sold and that unique return URL will be sent to Paypal (overriding any default set up in your Paypal account) when your visitor clicks the order button.
