Is there a good way to find LOCAL online business partners?

Lately, I've been thinking it would be cool to find one or two LOCAL like-minded, money-hungry, individuals interested in teaming up and doing some online business ventures. It seems the big names in the industry have a habit of working together with at least one person and not struggling alone like me, and probably many others.

I thought it would be a rather simple task to find these individuals but after running a few ads on craigslist, yahoo PPC, and in the local paper, I haven't even been contacted by one individual? (Below is the ad I posted on Craigslist Detroit with zero response.)

Does anyone have any ideas on how to find local online business partners to team up with?

*********** Recent Craigslist Ad **************************

I am looking for one or two ambitious local JV partners to help grow my online business. I love affiliate marketing and am well versed in PPC, web design, email marketing, etc...

Details on what I'm looking for are right here: http://www.matthewdoeing.com

My business is profitable every month but I really want to take it to the next level. If you have similar skills and ambitions and live in the St. Clair or Macomb County Michigan area please contact me so we can discuss.

If you're looking to sell me something - don't - I'm not buying.

Hope to hear from you.

You could try searching and contacting on social networks, e.g. Twitter and Facebook.

I've been trying, Art, but no luck yet. I've been doing basic searches nothing too in depth, though.

Are you looking for people specifically in the IM niche? IF you are looking for business people in general, you can try your local chapter of BNI (bni.com).

Or even here... see if there is a local mastermind group for your area.

    Matthew,

One question to ask yourself is if someone wanted to find you (not your promotion) where and how would they be able to come across you?

Also your promotional ad and site is focused on you not them.

Unless they know your personally why would they care if they were working with you.

Why would they care about building your business, after all you have given a complete description of why you don't need them.

There is nothing wrong with what you are trying to do, the presentation of what you are wanting to do is way off.

Do something more along the lines of personal letters to business people (start with people you know) asking for their help and suggestions of leaders in the community who are interested in expanding their businesses.

No. I know plenty of big names. They ALL struggled early on whether they had partners or not.

Now working with someone who's genuinely committed and honest can be a good idea.

It tends to happen naturally as you progress in the business although I've never had a partner on any IM joint venture from in my local city...they've all been on the other side of the world.

Most of my joint venture partners I've never met face to face.

The suggestions here are also good...checking out twitter and facebook and making a post like this.

You might want to add the word Detroit to the title of this thread.

Many marketers list an address on their website so I guess you could try doing some kind of search of internet marketing and Detroit...

There might be someone at that internet marketing club you have in Detroit LOL...
