Good idea. Godaddy is getting to be too spoilt. Try NameCheap.com. I have no problems with them.

    I like namecheap.com

You can usually find good coupons by searching for "namecheap coupon" online.

I use and recommend Namecheap. They offer free privacy for 1 yr and a discount for those with 50 domains or more.

Namecheap is a good service and it is nice if you want to transfer a domain during a site flip

I don't doubt that Go Daddy has some issues. But it seems like when companies get big like that they seem to want to throw their weight around. How many of us hate Google but depend on them so much.

I tried Namecheap.com for the last couple of domains I got and had a problem. It wasn't a big deal but as a new user I could not find how to change the name servers. I searched for a phone number to call, and I don't believe there is one. If there is, then they hide it petty well, like they hide the instructions to actually change the name servers. The instructions were very ambiguous and didn't tell me where to actually find the page I needed to do it. So I had to send a ticket to get resolved. If I had that same problem on Godaddy, I would have just picked up the phone and got my answer without waiting.

Yes, Godaddy can be a pain, but I have not found anything better yet.

If you still have domains at Namecheap here's a link to their tutorials: NameCheap.com - Interactive Demos - Knowledgebase

I've never had a reason to contact support but you're right, the options seem to be live chat or to submit a ticket.

I use Servage dot net for both domains and hosting. Their support is awesome and that's why I buy my domains from them. Also when you order the domain and hosting from them than everything is set for work. No need to change anything. When you're buying the domain in one place and the hosting from another you need to change the DNS server and if you're a newbie than you better buy them both in the same place.

I like GoDaddy because of their 24/7 support.

1 and 1.com has good support and competitive prices

Some of the others have email only support and for beginners this is too hard to deal with

I'd definitely go with Namecheap after Godaddy. And after Namecheap, I'd go with Name.com.

I moved all my domains from go daddy and 1&1 to namecheap after continual probelms and very poor customer service.

I am really pleased with namecheap, it's very easy to navigate, my domains don't suddenly become unavailable after doing a domain search, the customer service is really good, with a real person getting back me when I submit a ticket. Can't recommend then highly enough.

1&1 and Namecheap are the ones that I would go with also. I do have a couple of domain names with Godaddy but will transfer them to Namecheap about a month before they expire. Also once you get over 50 domains Namecheap will give you a discount code for all of you renewals.

I have used 1 & 1 for about a year now and they are very good. You can always get somebody on the phone if you need them and they have absolutely no attitude.

Namecheap for me as well. I always use them, and I've never had any problems.
You also get some bonuses, as well as you don't have to suffer through the massive amounts of advertising and upsells you get from godaddy.

Also search for "namecheap coupon [month]" in google. Then you'll get'em for $8.80.

Now I have also heard that 1and1.com are cheap, as well as they have an affiliate program.

I have bought all my domains to date (not much, 10 or something) from Namecheap and didn't have any problems in redirecting the name servers or such. By the INTERFACE coupon code you can buy each domain for $8 something which is around Godaddy's price I imagine.

Edit: @Preben: The coupon code "INTERFACE" works regardless of month and will always get you $8.8 domains.

I have found crazydomains are cheap and reliable. They are a .au business. Prices quoted are in AUD (Australian) dollars and are slightly cheaper than US equivalents from GoDaddy.
They are also the cheapest I have found for .com.au domains -useful if you are serving mainly the Aus market.

I like Namecheap the best. Their dashboard is clean and easy to use--unlike Godaddy's, which is busy, confusing, and designed more to sell you something than it is to be usable.

Plus you get free domain privacy AND free SSL certificates.

Namecheap.com all the way for me.

I started using netfirms.com too. It's $7 for the first year. A little cheaper than godaddy.com. One downside is if you are not registering more than one domain at a time, then you will have multiple logins each time you buy a domain.

I use and highly recommend namecheap.
Best customer service i've ever seen. The control panel is cool- a nice way to manage all your domains and upgrade them when due. Godaddy isn't just working for me anymore.
