Dumb question but need the advice

Warriors I am really been itching to get back into the blogging game. I wanted to see what you all thought about a multi niche blog? I have a few topics I want to blog and give advice about and was thinking of doing a multi niche blog and maybe have the pages geared towards the category? Dont know if this would be a good idea with SEO and things as always any advice is much appreciated.

Hi George My Advice is To Go for It! Blogs are always a fantastic way of letting of steam and getting your point across... there are lots of ways to earn money from blogging but try not to have this as the soul purpose... as it will only fail if money is the only thing that drives you... but if you inject passion into the blog and you find it fun to do! then Definitely go for it! I wish you the best of luck

Multi topic blogs are not that bad an idea. Half the battle is getting the structure right from the get go, to help you with SEO.

You want a dedicated static PAGE for each topic. a quick few words and then with short code you can bring in the topic related posts below. pretty simple.

One thing that I have found to greatly assist with the end user experience is to place links at the bottom of each post that directly link to related topic content. Using software such as WordPress for development does "Kinda" do this... BUT it links the last and next post. These posts MAY NOT be of the same topic.

( IE you have a post on basketball, that a end user finds in the search engine. the post that YOU wrote before that was baseball related, and the post after was about soccer. - The end user came to your blog specifically for "Basketball" and the linked articles are not related by context. ) You want to ensure that you offer the end user the exact content they came to your site in the first place.

Another writing trick that I have found to be effective in regards to SEO is to write / publish your content in blocks. When you start blocking content by context ( example would be to publish 5 articles on basketball in a row, then 5 on baseball ) those articles will link within themselves to same context matched content.

As an example something I do for my own sites as well as my clients. I write a 2500 word article, and then will break that into 5 smaller ( 500 word ) articles. this creates the "block" of content. I then publish the 5 articles from last to first. I publish them "backwards" so that when WordPress shows the most recent, the 1st article in a series is listed first, and the 5th article is listed last.

Taking that a step further, once I have published a series of articles I go back in and link articles 2,3,4, and 5 back to article 1. So if the end user were to click on a link to article 3 as an example they could easily go and start with page 1 of the article and read all 5 pages.

      Hope that Helps!

George, unless the niches are closely related in some way, I don't recommend it - especially if you are new to blogging. I'd suggest picking the one niche that you're the most passionate about. Create a blog around it and focus on that.

You can always create additional blogs for the other niches down the road, or expand your current blog to include them if you really must (although I personally don't recommend going the latter route).

Btw, not a dumb question at all!

Are the different niches at least somewhat related?

My Friend George, I will be very honest with you.... Don't waste time blogging. Focus on CREATING PRODUCTS that will pay you for years and years.

Blogs takes a lot of time and are not really worth it to be honest...

I agree. Unless you just love doing it, I would look at other avenues.

I think it's a good idea if the topics are related only.

And another thing, you nee to blog because you like it, not because you want to make money.

On the other side, i would advise everybody to create a blog, even if it only has 10 posts, a personal introduction and an opt in form. It's a good way to brand yourself.

Those topics are closely related. You would not have a difficult time with this project. Blogging is not dead. Many just give up way to soon. Others may just have not had a good structured plan. it is a lot of work but automating and scheduling your daily work plan is the key to getting it knocked out. Like Derek Halpern (Social Triggers) says. Stop wasting all of your time creating a ton of content and focus on building subscribers and promoting your content.

Maybe 20,000 people saw it yesterday or last week or last month. But what about the next day, week, or month? Create quality content and publish it slowly. That is the key!

Good luck with your site! If you need a host and like Go-daddy. They are doing a $1.00 a month hosting sale right now. It ends sometime early in January. i prefer Blue-host But to each his or her own!

Hope this helps, have a great day!

  • If related then sure-you have to realise that your readers will be there probably for 1 of the topics only however, so you will have to keep them coming back with content for that 1 topic.

Other readers will be there for topic number 2 etc

If you want to build an authority model to market and sell products on, just make sure its all the same thing

Have fun buddy you got this

My wife thinks I ask dumb questions, but in my opinion (to use a well-worn cliche) "the only dumb question is the one not asked."

Hey, I agree with those who recommend that you create your own products and build a subscriber list to sell your products to, and it's a good idea to do this whether you actively blog or not.

However, my opinion is that if you love to blog, and you want to blog, then I say go for it. As long as the topics are somewhat related, and you have passion for it and can sustain interest in it for the long term, you will be successful, because your passion will come through, and people will pick up on it. Do what you love, then "build it, and they will come."
