How to promote a new blog?

How to actually promote(free way) a blog and blog posts which doesn't have any backlinks, email subscribers and followers on the social media? Or what to do? Forget about promoting and create more and better content, build connections with other bloggers from my niche and ask them for a backlink or sharing my site to their followers?
Now I am focusing on the social media, especially groups on the G+, FB and LinkedIn. My main traffic(though small traffic) is from groups on these social media.

I agree. With a new blog you would want to make sure you give the user the best possible experience once they land there first then find ways to promote. My first order of business has always been keyword research. I put together a spreadsheet with at least 20 or 30 longtail keywords including 3 LSI keywords for each and then write content(posts & articles) to support them.(700+ words) Then I move towards other manual ways to generate traffic.

If this is how you want to run your blog, then be my guest. Make sure you have an opt-in form on the side of your blog on every page so people can sign up to it. Plus consider a hover ad to encourage the opt-in when people land on your blog. You can get this easily at Aweber. But i have to say this....

I think Warriorforum is breeding alot of non-hard working newbies day after day.

You have to get real and understand that an internet business is even harder than running an offline business. You may be better off on Ebay or something. You have to change your mindset and focus on putting in the work, instead of believe what these Warriorforum banner ads be saying.

    Free marketing takes time.

If you create new content each day, there is a small but good chance that the search engines may show your pages up in their first and 2 pages.

You will need to create new content all the time.

If you want faster results, I would go with paid ad.

First off, it's gonna take some work and time. If you're blog is brand new, it can take some days or a week before the search engines begin to recognize your blog -- even if you've done everything right. You find some blogs and forums in your particular niche and post on them and some social bookmarking sites. When you're laying the foundation for your site, you also have to make sure you optimizing everything properly.

Here are some free traffic methods off the top of my head:

    -Blog hopping
    -Forum signatures
    -Youtube videos
    -Facebook groups
    -Guest blogging

I can't really teach you all about free traffic in a small post, but do some research. You have the most powerful tool in front of you-Google!

    Hope this helps

I've always wondered about guest blogging, since people throw that out there like it's easy to do. Like other Warriors said... a lot of this stuff is not easy or quick.

With guest blogging for example, you have to first have good content. Otherwise no one is going to stay and no one is going to want you to guest blog. Then you have to reach out to blogs that will let you write [you either end up paying, get on a small site, or in the rare instance get a good connection]. But this doesn't happen a few days after you launch your site.

With new sites I've found that Facebook and Twitter are awesome to learn and use.

Thank you! So it looks like that I am going to consider be active on social bookmarking sites. Do you think that from those sites is bigger traffic than from G+, FB and Linkedin groups?

Well... have you considered sending people through a sales funnel where the content is actually on your blog? Keep it simple and it will grow in time

With free traffic it would take some time until your new blog gets some attention and visibility. You have to just keep putting up good quality content and also you have to promote your blog.

These are some of the free traffic sources:

    1. Social Media
    2. Video Marketing
    3. Social Bookmarking
    4. Web 2.0 sites
    5. Article Marketing
    6. Guest Blogging
    7. Blog commenting
    8. Forum Marketing
    9. Q & A Sites
    10. Slide Sharing Sites

In todays web environment a G+ listing with feedburner activated on your blog is a serious win. With every post you make, feedburner will distribute that post to your G+ followers. If your G+ followers are targeted correctly sharing will then happen. with sharing, you can watch your blog post hit a top 10 listing in Google - QUICK.

Become a guest blogger for other popular blogs in your niche. Most blog owners will let you do this for free as long as your post isn't promotional and actually ads value to their blog altogether. You could mention your blog or add a link at the end if you do it in a subtle way, unless you and the blog owner agree on something else. Afterwards, the blog owners could send a tweet or facebook update, as most popular blogs do, when a new post is made....

I would say focus on good content, Social Networks and niche relevant forum activity at the beginning. Later you can start the real link building

Anything you do to let others know about your content is considered promotion or networking, whether you are guest blogging, commenting on other people's blogs (for traffic not SEO) or posting your links to friends and groups on Facebook. Any of these methods is just as likely to produce interested traffic, so long as what you have to offer (such as your articles or products) is actually interesting to others.

You absolutely have to build your list along the way! That way you can re-cycle the traffic to your blog whenever you wish.

I have the same problem too.

One of my method is to share on my Facebook Post. However this only works if you have a lot of friends that are in the Internet Marketing Niche which work well for me.

Another alternative is to add them into your Warrior Forum signature.

Well it should'nt be about promoting your new blog alone it is also about sticking to one or two traffic source that works well one mistake i wish i didn't make while starting is not measuring/leveraging metrics, some traffic source will work for you while some will not so the best and fastest was to promote and develop a new blog is not only by doing what people say is working but knowing which one works for YOU.Start measuring to see those traffic sources with high bounce rate, low bounce rate high conversion, low conversion and the likes.

This exact same question is asked like 10 times a day...

The truth is that there's a million different ways to market a website online. There's no one best technique because some strategies work better for certain types of websites. If I was starting a new website from scratch, I would focus on keyword research, building a list, and maybe throw out a few guest posts. The truth is that, most of the time, it takes awhile for a website to start to receive a steady flow of traffic, even if you're actively marketing it.

Just try to narrow down your niche and target something really specific, use keyword tools to find a niche, and eventually the traffic will start to come.

Marketing a new blog - some approaches you may not have thought of:

    1. Create a blog post around a current event that you link back to your topic, then issue a press release -- this can work very well if you do a good job of aligning a current even with your target audience and their desire for information

    2. With solid content, run some ads - Facebook or Adwords to drive initial traffic to your blog via a particularly good piece of content. Do a good job of linking out to other content from that post (ex related posts, highlighted posts, etc...) and try to work in a call to comment - in my experience, my posts with strong and ongoing comments rank highest in SE's, some of my posts have been near the top for years in a nice cycle of high ranking combined with ongoing comments

3.Make sure to cross-reference your content as much as is possible (and natural). You want people who find one of your posts to continue to consume content until they are hooked, and ideally take action such as comment, subscribe or sign up for list you are promoting from your blog

    4. Actively approach other blogs that target the same audience, offer to write them a piece of content with a link back to your blog and offer to run a similar post for them...sort of "selective syndication" - I have done a few dozen of these on most of my blogs and it works very well

    5. Make sure, as you build your email list, that you continue to drive them back to your blog posts through ongoing post notices or weekly archive notices - this helps build a community and can improve participation rates which, in turn, helps SE rankings

    6. Podcast - Starting a weekly (or even twice weekly) podcast around your topic and posting that on your blog can be an excellent source of bringing in traffic. Cross reference your blog in your podcast and post it on your blog with a Podcast plugin, this has become a main source of traffic for us on one of our blogs this past year

    7. Video - take at least one of your best blog posts each week and turn it into a 4-8 minute video returning the traffic to your blog for more details - again this brings in great traffic if done well and consistently
