It depends on how targeted the traffic is that is being sent to your sales page. 150 hops to your sales page means nothing if not a single person is interested in buying your product.

Some people will have a sale every 30-50 hops but they have real and legitimate traffic of real people who are interested.

You can get 1000 hops and still not get any sales.

If you are doing paid ads, I would test all sorts of places and see which ones get you results and which ones don't.

There's no set standard. If your offer sucks and your traffic isn't targeted you might never get a sale.

There is no set standard (sort of), but it can also vary by the niche you're in and how good the offer is, the price of the product, and that sort of stuff. For instance, in IM, having earnings per click of a $1 or more is average and considered good. With that said, there are some offers I promote that convert way better than that for me. I'm also in the dating niche, and my earnings per click in that niche (for products that convert) are way higher than $1. I also don't have refunds in that niche (as of yet).

Having 150 clicks and no sales is bad. You need to change some stuff up (i.e. the offer, the keywords you're targeting, the method you're using to drive traffic to the offer, or something like that. I just started in the dating niche earlier this year and recently learned of a traffic source that everyone says works really well in the niche (gotta test is out for myself) but is one that's typically not used in IM.

Good luck,
Joey

You could try that. Or...set up a PPC campaign, or purchase a solo ad, or write a guest post for blog. These are all ways to get super targeted traffic. Technically, if you send enough traffic anywhere you are bound to make a sale at some point. But if you look at selling your own products this way, as a vendor, be prepared to wait a while. That's why its always better to consider quality over quantity, even when it comes to traffic.

1 sale to 10 hops is good.

1 sale to 5 hops is pretty damn good.

1 sale to 1 hop is awesome.

All it is, is data.

Is it bad? Absolutely not, because you can use what you've been given...

And make appropriate changes so the conversions go in your favor.

Traffic quality, your offer, price, and your marketing strategy ALL matter at the same time. What is your site so we can see what the *issue* is (if there is one). 150 hops and no sale doesn't mean you don't have a good product and offer.... it could just be a matter of randomness. Maybe one day the first 25 hops will yield you a sale, the next day 75 hops yields you a sale, and then the next day 200 hops yields you a sale. Don't sweat it, still give it some time so that you can analyze your results thoroughly.

It's too early to tell.

0 sales from 150 hops on the first day is consistent with a 0% conversion-rate, but it can also be consistent with a 2.5% conversion-rate and an unlucky start: the number isn't large enough to tell, yet.

I advise you not to start changing things on the basis of just 150 hops.

Re: How many Hops Per Sale

at this point you are looking at three basic elements. there is the bait that draws them to YOUR page. Then is then YOUR landing page, and then there is the offer page. ( this is all assuming you have your basic funnel in place - there may be more pieces at play )

So to break this into terms that are a bit less confusing. the first step, the bait is the pre-qualifying stage. "Hey! if you are interested in this click here." you are separating those that are interested from those that are not - hence pre qualifying.

Your landing page... this is the pre sales step. you obviously want this to go a step further than the last step. you have their interest now you are trying to cement the benefits of what you have to offer.

The last leg is the offer sales page. and it does just that, it sells.

The most important aspect to the whole process is continuity in message across all of the steps. Because you are at the effect of the already built product sales page in this case, you need to reverse engineer the message from the sales page to the pre sales page, and then the pre-qualifying stage.

Now before you go willy nilly trying to change things... I will agree with what has been said already that 150 clicks is NOT enough to overly be concerned with. At this point 3 clicks that purchase would put you at 6% overall conversion. with numbers so small that minor change can have a great effect.

More importantly what you want to look at right now is not so much the conversion rate, but the movement between the stages.

How many impressions does it take for people to pre-qualify themselves into your offer? How many of those that click your link, stay on your page for the amount of time needed to go over the material you are offering before they leave. What is the percentage of people hitting your pre-sales page vs moving forward to the sales page?

Again there are 3 parts to this puzzle, and focusing on the last piece will never get you very far. A whole lot is happening long before you get there.

Hope that Helps!
