Who should you target in this sort of market?

There are literally thousands of different clothing brands being started every day. Most of them who don't have success, either don't have money to invest or marketing skills to help them sell products.

But which route seems more reasonable to go after? Would creating a street wear brand that opens up doors for any race, gender, age or creating a clothing line based on lets say, where you're from? Or your home state? I understand that there is a lot more profit to be made if you were to create a brand and sell world wide rather than locally/your state, but with so much competition out there and people coming up with new brands daily, what makes more sense?

If you are going to be selling physical products such as clothes, it's always a good idea to expand online. Always know what kind of clothes you will be selling, identify your "niche" if you sell biker clothes, than focus on that direct group of people and sell biker things. Although I am not an expert on eBay and I've made many purchases from there, a good idea would be to open a store on eBay and once they have purchased from you, you can see about following up and selling more things. That way you can you can build a buyers list of prospects interested in "biker clothes". Doing some list building in your niche is a smart idea from their you promote digital + eBay store.

Well I'm not sure if there is a certain 'niche', its a urban street wear clothing store. The brand will have cool graphic Tee designs and quotes..

Is that too broad? or would narrowing it down to selling clothes only based on your home state? Or clothes based on athletes/sports.

As I mentioned , if I was in your situation I would look into try to open a clothing store on eBay (it's free to open an account) since it is deliverable product. Than think of the crowd that buys what you are selling, is it people that possibly may be interested in Hip Hop? If so you can try buying a banner for example on a high traffic hip hop site and redirect to your ebay store, the marketing and everything is the same as in any other IM, do whatever you need to do. The idea is to build an email list of prospects interested in what you have to offer and than promote related items to them. I've purchased items off of eBay before and gotten added to their buyer list it's a good idea.
