Stop Chasing Start Building - How To Make Money Online

When I first got into IM I was absolutely in love with the concept.

My introduction was an eBook by a guy called Chris Carpenter called Google Cash (who remembers that classic).

Anyway it was not long before I got started in business and made a few bucks ... I remember my first big pay day. Within a couple of months of starting out I earned $300 from a single sale off a single click on a Google Ad and that was it I was hooked.

What I have learned and observed on the way is that the people who make money in this game actually build a business that serves them long term.

On the other hand I notice that there are those who in an attempt to make money quickly chase after every latest gimmick and as a result don't make any cash or build anything of substance.

I guess what I am saying is that the quickest short cut in IM is to do it properly i.e. stop chasing shiny objects and build a proper business

Here is a simple blueprint that works for many (not saying this is the only approach but it does work)

1) Find a niche that you are passionate about and that can be monetized - look for existing products and sites in that niche and determine if they are making money. Competition is a good thing, where this plenty of competition it means money is being made.

2) Select or create products related to your niche that offer decent front end and high back end commissions.

3) Build a sales funnel either using a blog or landing pages

4) Learn to drive targeted traffic to your offers.

Next steps ... be consistent for 90 days, take action, do the work and stick at it. I appreciate my 4 steps are summarized so you will have to learn what to do to complete each one. However there is so much free information on this forum to help you so that should not be a problem.

The Outcome - at the end of 90 days you will have either made some money, no money or even better lots of money.

Either way you will have gained so much experience and created the foundations for your business that even if you decide to switch niches you will be in a much stronger position.

I am off to watch MIB3 (again)

Have a good evening from the UK

Sounds pretty simple when you say it like that and in a way I think it is that simple once you get the hang of it.

      Rock-solid advice.

I'd emphasise the importance of focusing on one project, and that it be unmistakably yours - whether ecommerce, an app, services, or information.

The other day I came across a bustling forum about the 1930s and 40s clothing. There are people out there who have spent years developing their little hobby websites about radio-controlled toys into good earners. I've also seen popular sites dedicated to one specific form of exercise, e.g. squats.

I'd contrast these with the typical affiliate review site. Sure, you can make money from those comparison sites, but I don't think they have an individual's fingerprints on them. Get the return visitors, get the word-of-mouth, get the clicks on the share buttons.

If you can inform, educate and entertain (to rip the BBC's mission statement), then you can make money indefinitely from the most nichily-niche of sites.

Good information. Straightforward, uncomplicated, and totally doable, even for newbies. If only people would do this and stop looking for the next big thing, they would actually start to see some success online and make some money.

Seriously, when I look at your "blueprint" again, it represents a complete marketing method broken down to it's most basic steps. Not confusing or convoluted but easy for just about anyone to follow and implement.

I mean, hey man, you could have expanded on it a little and put it in a WSO and sold it here on this forum, but instead you provided it here for free for all who wish to try it for themselves. Kudos!

          Thanks for the love.

The truth is I have learned so much from this forum it is great to share the knowledge gained.

Excellent advice for marketing people in general. Focus is certainly a key component and finding a niche you enjoy helps. I think your choice in films isn't quite as good?

Great post. Everyone needs to know at least the very basics when it comes to internet marketing. It's about building a business, not spamming your links and buttons all over the place. You'll find that creating your own empire is more rewarding than scraping the gutter of one.

    Hey Bernard,
I agree with this. A lot of Newbies make the mistake thinking that they have to look for that golden gem of a Niche that has low Competition. There is much money to be made in high competition niches.

Do not be frightened by them.

This is very good advice. When it comes to finding a niche, keep in mind that it may take a while for you to find a niche that you like. I've noticed that some people freak out if they haven't discovered the niche they want to be in within a day. It will be okay. I also recommend that you not go into the "make money online" niche until you have actually made some money in another niche. This way, you know what works and which products are actually legit (lots of crap out there).

When it comes to the price points of the products you promote, keep in mind that it pretty much takes the same amount of effort to promote an inexpensive item as it does a more costly one. The price people are willing to pay for something is all about perceived value. As long as the product is quality and meets a need, you shouldn't be afraid to promote it. I know this might sound weird, but I used to be like that. Well, that's my two cents.

    Good luck,
    Joey
