The guy that cleans my carpets is an internet marketer and doesn't even know it
True story here.
So just before Christmas we decided to get our couch cleaned.
We rang the same guy that cleaned it along with our carpets about 4 years ago.
What a difference 4 years makes.
4 Years ago, this guy was marketing the old school way, flyer in the mailbox.
He had a beat up old van and equipment that looked like he resurrected from the tip.
His business is only 10 years old so at the time he had already been going 6 years.
This time around he rolled up in his new van, his son was with him. He had brand new equipment which he was explaining to me was custom designed and built to fit his van.
Within minutes he was building rapport and just having a chat with my wife and I and then he naturally drifts the conversation over to his facebook page, he tells me about his website and as it turns out he does all his own SEO on his free weebly website.
I leave to let him do his job as I sit down to my morning coffee. Im looking at his website and FB page and this guy is doing everything right. His crappy, ugly website ranks #1 for his main keyword (how I would have found him), he has only the information people want to read, simple and informative and there are calls to action.
I check out his FB page and it is littered with competitions he runs, he engages with his fans, posts before and after photos, he asks people to post their own photos and gets others to guess what caused the stains then he gives away free cleans.
He calls me over to make sure we are happy before his son finishes up.
We get talking again and as it turns out he now has two vans, his son will take the other van once he is trained up and the way the guy was talking the sky is the limit.
He says he does absolutely no off line marketing anymore and everything is solely online with work being so busy that he is working non-stop from 7am to between 6pm and 8pm if he wants.
So not only is this guy doing everything right but he seems to want to evolve his business and marketing further explaining to me he's asking his son to teach him 'how to instagram' so he can get some business from that area too.
This is what you call initiative in a real practical day to day business operation.
