Beware of a Company Called Domain Registration Service Corp

This company is a scam. I just received an email from them "informing" me that one of my domain names is about to expire on 12/31 and if I pay their fee of $54, they will renew it for me.

First, all my domains are registered through NameCheap, and second, I bought that domain back in September, so I KNEW it could not be about to expire.

Fortunately I'm not gullible, but many others might be and all they have to do is click the link provided and pay them $54.

$54?? I ask you. This really is a scam.

So newbies, be warned, if you get an email like this, hit the delete button . . .

What they will do is once you pay them $54, they will transfer your domain to their registrar.

At least you will know when your domain will be expired in advance.

Just make sure you don't pay them!

Thanks for the heads-up on this AnniePot. Like you, I would never fall for such an obvious scam attempt, but many (let's call them) "less aware people" doing business online might be frightened about losing their domain, and give these crooks what they ask for.

I've received a few emails from them myself on my domains. I just delete them and move on.

Yes they are. This has been around a while Annie. I just just simply junk them. They are others who do the same when my domains are nearing renewal, all are junked.

That's why I always like to work with Godaddy.com. They are very honest and are very reliable.

They charge a one time yearly fee of less then $15 so next time you should work with them.

Namecheap does the same thing. A Yearly fee and the you send a notice in advance, When the domain name is due for renewal. You can also set it up auto renewal on Namecheap.

The company Annie is talking about will do the same if you have Godaddy or Namecheap

Sadly it's not just emails, I get these kinds of letters in the mailbox as well. Looking all official.

Talk about some high profit margins, huh?

I've been getting a lot of emails from them, but it looks like an invoice for Search Engine Registration that I NEED to pay within the next 2 weeks. Very tiny print disclaimer at the bottom says "This is not a bill, you don't have to pay". I guess that keeps it legal, but still spam.

I suggest you all hit the SPAM button when receiving such deceiving emails. If a lot of people do it, they'll get blocked. That way, they won't bother us in the future.
