Someone wants to buy ad spots on my website

Have a question. I got an email from someone wanting to buy ad spots on one of my websites.

Here's part of his email...
"I was Googling around and came to domainile.com just now. I surfed around and really liked the site, could I buy banner ad spots on parts of the site?

If you already sell adspace - could you give me the details about how many visitors domainile.com gets per month, the country breakdown of what your top 5 or 10 countries the traffic is coming from and the prices for different available spots."

The site doesn't get a lot of hits - about 700/month. I've never had anyone approach me before and I'm really cautious about stuff like this. I'd really like some input from someone with some experience.

Is there any way to tell if it's legit, could there be a possible problem? I just don't have any answers. Also, any possible pricing - like I said, never done this before. If there's a possibility of a problem, I'll forget it, just don't want to take any chances.

just give him the information, talk about a price and get paid advance in paypal... if makes a chargeback just remove the banner... no big risk, actually...

With all those specific questions, asking about traffic from various countries, they are likely to have very high traffic expectations.

I'm not sure if they will be very impressed with your traffic stats. However, your site is still growing, there's hope. Maybe you could work on building your traffic and then later on sell to other site owners who want banner space. This could be the start of a good thing.

Sure, give it a shot and try if you can sell it.

Otherwise you could also monetize your site with AdSense - although with 700 visitors/m that will be not much in return.

It is good to be cautious. Remember you are in complete control since it is your site.
You get to approve the banner and the URL that it links to. Get paid in advance with pay pal and you place the ad in the agreed upon location. Any issues and you can remove it. As mentioned above the there is a possibility of a charge back with paypal so if that happens just stop running the ad.
I expect it will work OK for you.

It would have to be extremely targeted traffic to warrant anyone wanting to pay for Ad on a Site only getting 700 hits a month.

If your site can facilitate banners it will be an additional income stream for you. Decide your price for a certain time, if it works out favorable you may want to consider repeaing the term, if your client is happy he may remain permantly.

    Good luck

Maybe make him pay and hold it for 2-3 days, then put the ad up, this will protect you a little more..

I have had this before and they all turned out to be bogus.

If your site is getting you 700 unique clicks per month, you would be better off NOT to sell ad space.
