What does this mean? (niche question)

Hi WF,

So I'm doing niche research atm.

I'm looking at a specific niche and trying to assess how much competition there is & therefore if there is money to be made.

Here's what I've found and it seems odd:

A decent amount of products for this niche currently been promoted on ClickBank with a gravity score of 5 and above (in many cases much higher).

Additionally there is a lot of niche related products on Amazon which have lots of reviews/seem to be doing well.

So far things seem good right, signs indicate that money is changing hands here right?

But then when I do some keyword research using Google Keyword Planner I see there is a huge amount of searchers but hardly any competition at all. Like, no competition. When I search for the term myself I get zero ads appearing, and Keyword Planner estimates I could get ranked 1 - 2 for as little as 0.10 cpc.

What's going on here? I would have though that CB products selling well, related Amazon products selling well would correlate to a lot of Google competition.

Does this mean I've found a great niche to get into? I find this hard to believe as it's a niche that has been around forever and it's a massive worldwide market. To me something doesn't add up here.

Can anyone provide any thoughts to this?

Thanks WF!

maybe you're analyzing Google competition based on your local area... especially if you're outside of US
Google now gives personalized results based on the area...

if this isn't the case, maybe you're just lucky or you need to dive in deeper and find out
it's hard to say without knowing what niche it is...

Thanks for the reply - obviously if I do an actual Google search it will be for my area (which is outside of US). There are no ads showing when I do search this, but even when switching the targeting to 'US only' competition is apparently just as low (according to Keyword Planner).

As a side question, should I be setting the targeting to US only? Currently I have it set to 'all locations' which of course gives a lot more potential impressions/clicks than US only.

Are your search terms longtail? Advertisers may paid for general terms and ignore long tail keywords. Try to expand your search and dig deeper

I put together an add group consisting of 10 keywords with highest traffic. Some of these are single words only, some are two words & some are 3 to 4 words, there's a bit of a sprinkling of all.

In any case, I can't seem to see much competition for any of these. Some of the keywords even have good quality authority websites exactly matching them but still no signs of any ads at all.

Does this help at all? (PS, thanks for your reply)!

What's the niche? There are some search terms Google won't allow any ads for.

When faced with a question such as this.....a little split testing would be in order.

Enter the niche to extract some sample data and compare it against your presumptions

      StopGap,

here would be my take on this.... Jump.. as in jump in. seriously how much is it going to cost? $200? maybe?

You can second guess your life away, or you can based on your understanding of an educated choice just take the plunge.
