I have a Godaddy multiple domain account which allows unlimited websites. I have one main domain and then other "hang" off this one in sub folders. The issue I have is that the traffic for the main domain is always the strongest and the domains that hang off it never seem as good. I know it all depends on many factors such as niche, number of backlinks, number of pages etc etc, but am I being penalized by the search engines because I am sharing domains and IP addresses? Or it this just a coincidence? What disadvantages are there of using multiple domain accounts? Thanks. Andy |

Wow, I would be interested in that as well. When I've read your post I was ready to answer "How the heck can one domain be better than the other?" but I was also always wondering this with my webhost. Logically I cannot imagine that one domain is penalized because it's the "sub-domain" of the other. |

I believe your add-on domains are they same as your main domain when it comes to SE rankings, it just depends on your domain's niche and how well you have optimised the domains - they can do just as well and better

Thats nothing to bother about my friend. Correct me if I'm wrong but generally, even your main domain's IP would be shared with someone else! Clayton |

I agree with dave147 that it will be dependent on how well you have optimized your domain name. If you have drive a lot of traffic to your domain name, I do not think that the IP address will be any issue to you. Just my humble opinion ![]() Zack |
