INTERNET MARKETING

I thought it would be a neat idea to start a thread with nothing but two word answers to the question: "What would you say to those just starting out in internet marketing?" This is a personal question, so the answers should very greatly.

My words are: Be Useful.

For me, the first thought that comes to mind is "Watch Tutorials"

I say this because I learned a lot about internet marketing from watching internet marketing tutorials online. The same goes for building a wordpress website from scratch and being able to customize it the way I wanted it.

There are a lot of great resources on the internet and Youtube is one of the best way to learn things quickly. Most people learn things faster when they are thought how to do things visually. It's probably why "...For Dummies" books are so popular as well as "Teach yourself Visually" Books.

It doesn't just help watching tutorials either. For example if you are watching video tutorial on how to promote Clickbank products, you should be doing exactly what the person in the video is teaching you, or you won't learn a lot.

Basically, It's all about taking action!

Whenever you try something there's no point in quitting unless you tried everything to make it successful. In other words, don't try to do 10 things at once.

Start Working.
Playing on the internet, reading the Warrior Forum all day or hanging out on Facebook will not give you any results. At one point you actually have to start some where and put some work in to a project.

Be yourself.

People will soon see through you if you're trying to pretend to be something you're not and in an industry that's pretty crowded due to relatively low barriers to entry, that special combination of traits which makes you what you are is a very unique selling point and shouldn't be shoved away behind a cookie-cut persona which you imagine is what the world expects to see.

  (I think "take action" is good advice only to quite a small minority of aspiring marketers: I see far more people failing/struggling through having set off in completely the wrong direction than through any lack of action. Before starting to "take action", one requires "education": no amount of action usually helps people who have set off in the wrong direction.)

  Hard selling works in some situations such as telemarketing where you will only ever get one chance to talk to someone.
  
  However for affiliate marketing, Build Trust are the right words as it implies there will be a long term relationship, usually built through repeated contact such as email marketing.
