Default Best Internet Business Advice You Received

Hey warriors. I am new - both to the Warriors forum and to internet marketing. Am grateful for the opportunity to discuss my new found passion with people who are already successful in the business of making money online. What I would like to ask you is what is the best piece of advice you ever received or the best lesson you learned regarding making money online? Thanks in advance for your comments.

Eric Louvierre pounds on this point time and time again and it's
really one of the most useful pieces of advice I've seen.

1 - Get a squeeze page up
2 - Drive traffic to it

At the end of the day this is what it all boils down to...
A few simple steps and taking action action action...

Profit comes from a business model that works well. Sales are only one little part of this business model, and if the other parts don't work, then your sales will stop.

A web page where you offer a free course or information to interested readers. They receive this content by entering their e-mail address.

As you build up your e-mail list, you provide this information as well as products and services that would be a good fit for this group.

One of the best lessons I have ever learned in my internet marketing career came from 2 guys who did an audio a few years back. Their names are Mr. Terry Dean and Mr. Frank Garon.

Their audio is called:

Network Marketing In the Internet Age

They said something that made a lot of difference in my IM career and that is to get my own opt in email list and the importance of that strategy.

If you are in any type of niche online, the best thing to do once you have your own website is to give your visitors the option of subscribing to your FREE newsletter. Doing this on my websites has made me more money online because:

The fortune is in the follow up. The Money is in the list.

That is good advice too because online, you will have many setbacks and very few successes. It is so easy to throw things overboard and quit once you don't see the results but the best thing to do is to keep going no matter what.

Internet Marketing ABC

Always
Be
Creating

Always be creating articles, videos, scribd documents, squidoo lens, hubpage hubs, your own products etc...

I'm a free traffic junkie and I have this small ABC sign posted above my computer. It's my own person motto from when I was first starting out in IM... I know it sounds a little queer...

If I'm the one producing the most content chances are I will be the one succeeding in whatever niche I'm in. Content generates traffic, and as we all know traffic equals sales. Just like a stadium needs "asses in the seats" to make money, your website needs "eyeballs on the page"

I have never heard that but I like it because until you try then you can never make money. LOL I remeber the hihg from my first sale, I think it was $0.83 cents, however the amount is not important.

I personally think that research is important do your keyword research well, although I use Market Samurai and love it I would not recommend to a newbie that they pay for software to do keyword research. Google tools is good, without keyword research you can never get traffic and without traffic you do not have a business.

Yeah, Eric took for granted that everyone is supposed to know the next 15 steps to effectively build a sales funnel, not to mention conduct proper market research, traffic generation, content creation, monetization programs, OTO's, Email frequency, retention rates, take rates, List swaps, product creation, split testing landing pages for optimization/offers/autoresponder message testing/list segmentation/list feedback via survey, EPC, etc.

There's more to his equation than he let on yet, it's a good start but simply not enough as he laid it out for the newbie marketer to "make it work for them".

Here's mine:

Put up a one page website, drive targeted traffic, sell something, collect payment, email confirmed buyers promotions of supplimentary products.

Eric forgot about the collect payment part which makes my business model > Eric's

Cheers!

Pick one thing and do it well. Jumping from project to project, concept to concept just creates confusion. Add multiple streams of income later.

The converse of this is also true. Know when to accept failure and move on.

If you can master the nuances of these two concepts, you will be very successful.

A squeeze page is where you enter your name and email in exchange for a free gift.

You can build one with the free software at **Just Released** Brand New FREE Software easily creates unlimited niche opt-in pages in just minutes...
If you want to see an example (by no means suggesting you should but here's an example) of mine in my signature link...

As to answer your original post...

The best advice I ever received was do it...

Build a list...write that first article and get that squeeze page up...you can always improve it.

Create that first product- it's not that hard and you'll learn a ton by doing it!

Just do it...whatever it may be...

My 2nd greatest advice is to have a plan so you don't get strung along and burnt out.

Cheers,

Brad Spencer

Can anybody give me some advice on this one:

I have an idea for an information product and a blog which I can use to post daily about my chosen niche. I have done some keyword research, and I have a general idea of what to do next.

I know you guys have said that I need to get a list, so my plan is to build an opt in page and get a list going, and then get a newsletter going out to my list weekly.

My question is, should I centre it around a website where the product is on sale and drive traffic to the website, and link to my blog from there? Or should I just drive traffic to my blog and run everything from the blog?

As always, I appreciate your input.

You don't have to be great to get started, you need to get started to be great!

The best Internet advice I've ever received summed up in three sentences:

1) Build a List.
2) Build a Relationship.
3) Market to Your List.

And the money is not in the list, the money is in the relationship with the people on your list.

Hands-down the best advice I've received came from outside of internet marketing and multi-level marketing.

Which is batching. An idea from Tim Ferris's book The 4 Hour Workweek.

the idea is you take all the tasks that are similar and do them all in one uninterrupted session. It saves a lot of time rather than doing tons of different things in a session where you cannot get into the groove and get things rolling.

Applying this to internet marketing and network marketing have been a blessing just because there is an endless amount of work you could potentially do. And unlimited ways to do that work.

Only been doing IM for the last 6 months or so. I have a lot of history and skills to rely upon when it comes to niches that I know a lot about.

In the beginning, I would kind of jump from topic to topic, idea to idea, never really staying still long enough to complete one thing.

So the advice that I am loving and following right now is:

1. Focus on one thing at a time, but have another project that you can switch to when you need a break, because a change is as good as a break.

2. As many posters above me have said in one form or another: Take Action.

It's really too easy to consume more and more information on IM, looking for some mystical secret, when all you really need to do is take consistent and focused action.

If you come across something where you have a hole in your knowledge or you want to improve your performance, then would be the time to go on the learning warpath, but in reality, if you are taking action and paying attention, you are learning already.

To your success

T

Edit: Just want to say I would also recommend what Greg above me has said. The 4 Hour Work Week is gold dust in terms of time management and task efficiency. It is the very embodiment of "work once, get paid forever".

I would have to say the key is to planning and focus. When i first started and with the imformation overload i found it was impossible to get ahead and follow a path to a goal.I have since improved hugely by shutting out a lot of info.If we plan what we are doing ,then focus on hitting our goal with a bit of tunnel vision,i do get there profitably in the end.

The best internet marketing advice is that, build it and people will come. Build it meaning build squeeze and traffic generating web pages and drive traffic and sales for your products through this setup.

Just do it. Too many people buy, read, say "woooaooo" but they lack action.

Better a bad method than no method at all.

Discover MiniSiteBox -- Yes, You get Professional Minisites... but you don't have to spend what others charge you for a "I've seen it before!!" sales page.

We just do our stuff from scratch. You just sit and cash in.

Take Action.
Don't get caught up in research.

Take More Action and Adjust along the way.

Along with "just do it" (which pretty much sums up a lot of the advice given), there's another bit of advice that sometimes goes along with it, but I don't think (unless I've overlooked it) that anyone else has suggested it yet. That advice is that it's never too late!

Okay, sometimes it is, but usually it's not too late. That is, don't believe that the best time to get involved in Internet marketing was last year, or the year before, or five years ago. Now is as good a time as any.

So, don't think you've missed the boat. The river keeps flowing and there'll be another boat along any minute. If not, build yourself a raft and start paddling.

It's like the old saying, "The best time to plant a tree is twenty years ago. The second best time is now."

Never, EVER be discouraged by failure.

Everyone fails many, many times. If you haven't failed yet, then you're not trying hard enough.

Learn from your failures and move on.
