Who writes the content for an infographic

So I remember wanting to create an infographic & there are many people out there that design the infographic, but I've never seen anyone advertising that they know how to come up with the contact (order, etc.) for the infographic.

Who does that?

Just a regular article writer or even a copywriter isn't skilled in that area.

Thanks

I'm not quite sure what you mean?

A lot of illustrators and Graphic designers are taught to produce infographics and aquire the content, unfortuantely in my opinion it shows as they don't always use the most effective content for a proper infographic. How do I know this I went to art college and have seen a lot of online portfolios showing beautiful, nay stunning works, some with very little content. You see a proper infographic is a marriage of the two design with lots of great content. There are experts who back me up on this Nathan Yau (Visualize This & Data Points) look on amazon.
Yes I think I see your point if a writer has never done one of these they are going to flounder, however I think you will find that some will have had a go at some time.

You can do this yourself if you have already got the content by using online infographic sites I have a list somewhere on my harddrive let me get it out for you.

Here it is, this is only a small selection of what you can find on the web, it really depends on what you want to do an is limited by your imagination.

    Visual.ly
    piktochart.com
easel.ly | create and share visual ideas online
    http://infogr.am/
    Venngage | Make Beautiful Infographics
    Collaborative Visual Intelligence | iCharts
Tagxedo - Word Cloud with Styles
    Wordle - Beautiful Word Clouds
Font Meme: Text Generator Online generates text designs

    powerpoint or openoffice alternative.
    you can watermark them using

    or http://picmarkr.com/markr.php

15 Cool Infographics That Work (and Don't Require any Design Skills)!

All you have to do is arrange the content, you've collected.

By the way if you already own Microsoft powerpoint (or openoffice), you can use that too, mixing and matching the graphics and charts from the above sites onto your work to build it up.

I know all that is easier said than done but you've nothing to lose by having a go.

    Thank you for this.

I really did want a writer of sorts to come up with the content. I'm great at writing educational business kits, but when it comes to short concise work or articles that are short, LOL, forget it.

    Happy New Year.

The best infographics have content that is supported by solid research, not just random facts made up by someone online. And, anyone can find this information as there are many credible and authoritative sites online that conduct studies and offer case examples for every niche from internet marketing to SEO and weight loss. One of the best things you can do for content is to find a prewritten article for your niche and break it apart to see it's most basic elements. This will provide a starting point for your infographic.

Usually when I do infographics, the content is provided by the client. I don't mind doing the research, writing, and fact checking myself, but I always charge extra for the time involved.

    Hi,

I've previously worked as a copywriter and am now the lead content editor at Mammoth Infographics. I researched and wrote all the content for the infographics which can be viewed here.

I think having an understanding of the design process and interrelation of different visual elements really helps when constructing the content. This way I am able to generate a visual scope which can be interpreted by a designer rather than a standard piece of copy which is open to misinterpretation.

Feel free to send me a direct message for more information.

    Thanks!

People who CAN do that include article writers, copywriters, graphic designers, marketers, and so on. Pretty much anyone who knows how to make factoids sound interesting and put together a visually appealing format to display them in. The downside is, you can end up with poor quality infographics: if they're not researchers, they may not understand data well enough to convey it correctly and clearly; if they're not writers, you can expect the language to be tedious and typo-filled; and if they're not designers, you may end up with an accurate and perfectly readable bit of ugliness.

But if you're looking for people whose specific job/skillset it is to produce infographics, those would be Data Visualization specialists. They do plenty else besides too, of course. Ref: What Jobs Are There in Data Visualization?

I dont know about who writes content for infographic but infographic content needs research that's what I know and for that we need to Google the sources, references to start with.

So, I would like to share few tips :- How to get all this information?

    1. Start with a primary search on Google for infographics on relevant keywords.
    2. Check existing infographics in your area of interest on Visual.ly.
    3. Check broad trends in the industry and what stories are being talked about the most for that go to Google News and Alltop..
    4. Use Twitter and Google Trends to explore current trending topics.
    5. Use Digg or Reddit to discover the most popular topics and stories that are being shared the most online.

It's kind of like a sales letter. Many parts, designer, copywriter, manager.

Usually joining the roles into only one freelancer results in poorer application on at least 1 side. You end up with a 50% complete project you need to revise before it's any good then you still need to market it so the investment pays off.

The exception is with an agency who will have 2-4+ people working on the infographic. 1 to design, 1 to research, 1 to manage project, 1 to market the infographic so it gets traction.

You pay a premium for a premium service though!!

Before hiring I'd suggest having a clear idea, an argument you're trying to convey, basic stats, examples etc for the freelancer/agency to work with. Otherwise they might pull data that's no longer relevant or they'll go on a tangent that isn't relevant or might not align with your interests. e.g. They say 80% of traditional dog collars harm dogs when you sell traditional dog collars.
