Actually Papal use different platform for different countries. So you are not allowed to send money from the India. Did you check with the Credit card? I think you may be able to use the Credit card to purchase anything from online.

I'm no lawyer, but my guess is that you're probably not going to find them, because if they're non-credit-card methods, then they're going to involve using some kind of account which would itself have to be funded contrary to the RBI regulations you mentioned? If credit isn't given by a third-party, then that means liquid funds have to be transacted at the point of sale, doesn't it?

I am from India and I have faced similar problem.

First you can not purchase from any payment gateway that requires payment details registration like PayPal. You can purchase only from payment gateways that let you buy directly using a credit card.

To make a purchase without card you need Net Banking active on your Bank Account. On your net banking account you have either e wallet or virtual credit card option.

This facility is right now available on all major public and private sector nationalized banks but not on local banks. All banks whose advertisement you can see on television are either nationalized or international banks.

Virtual Credit Card and e wallet can be used as credit cards for 24-48 hours, or with one use only option, whichever your bank allows. This is your only option to buy without credit card.

    Problem with this method,
    1. Any payment gateway that disallows virtual credit card will not let you purchase.
    2. Once you buy product, don't expect to get any refund because all e wallets gets deleted within 24-48 hours either you use them or not.
    3. If your e wallet fails to work, you have no other option other than contacting your bank. And as my personal experience with different banks I can surely say their employees have zero idea about using different options available in Net Banking facility and when it comes to e wallet most of them might act as they are doomed.

Get a real credit card if possible else just try e wallet or VCC option.

As far I know the only Debit Cards working with PayPal are from ICICI Bank and Axis Bank. I'm personally using Debit Card from ICICI Bank and it works fine with PayPal. So, I can suggest you to open an account with ICICI Bank (if you don't have it yet) to get their debit card.

I have used my HDFC debit card in paypal, and it works fine. That means i use it to purchase through paypal.

Obviously it is a VISA debit card.

So, I think Paypal works well for visa debit card.

Another thing to note here:- sometimes, a bank does not activate a card for online purchase, esp for new customers of the bank, who have just opened an account in that bank.

In that case you can call the customer care of the bank, and tell them that you cannot use the card for online shopping, so ask them to activate it.

That's good to know, it means one more option to the list of working debit cards

Yes, I agree. When opening a new account or getting a new card, the card may not be activated for international payments, so it's better to confirm with the bank.

Thanks for your detailed replay, and for net banking and vcc from nationalized banks they have only option to make domestic purchase only i can't able to make international purchases.

Check if you have any toll free/customer care number on any of the bank documents. However, I suggest you go to your bank branch and then ask them directly to activate your card for international payments.

P.S: When you get a new card, for the first time just make sure you use the card at any ICICI (or other) ATM to activate your card before using the card for online payment/international payments.

    Hi,
Paypal in India doesn't work the same way as in other countries and it's been like that for a while.

    Solution1
Of course if you have a credit card you can use that to make payments. Just about any kind of CC would do.

    Solution2
If you don't want to use your credit card go get yourself an ICICI or HDFC debit card (VISA). They are International debit cards and you can use them online AFTER ACTIVATION.

    How to activate?
After getting your ICICI Visa card wait for 24 hrs and then call the customer care number at the back to activate international transactions. It's locked by default. The customer care is going to take less than 24 hours to activate it and after that you can use it to make any kind of payments. You can link it to your paypal too.

    Hope that helps.
    Cheers!

Buying using the Paypal balance has been disabled for ages now, and the auto-withdraw was implemented way back too. It's nothing new.

But, you can use Paypal to buy stuff online - it simply charges your debit card / credit card instead of your Paypal balance.

    1. Call your bank to ensure they have enabled international transactions on your debit card
    2. Add your debit card to your Paypal account. You'll be charged a small amount and using that, Paypal will ask you to verify your card.
    3. Once done, you can easily buy anything using your Paypal account as long as the site you're buying from supports Paypal.

If not, then your debit card would work directly as well.

Just an observation, but I've noticed that this is the second four-year old thread that you have resurrected on this subject.

In both threads you also dropped a link to the same website, and what do you know, it's for a payment gateway.

Promotion in the main forum much?

Uhh, I mean spamming in the main forum much?
