I'm looking to do an ad swap for the very first time. I'm aware of the site safe-swaps.com (I don't know if there are others) but there is nothing there that explains how you are supposed to arrange a swap.

I'm a newbie and have a small IM list of just over 300, all from Tier 1 countries. What is the procedure for how a swap works? I was under the impression that it was a trade rather than something you pay for, I don't know if that is right or wrong. Thanks.

You might want to check out Udimi.com to start safe swapping

Udimi.com is for buying and selling solos. Safe Swaps used to have a solo marketplace, but they split their site, and now Udimi.com is the old Safe Swaps solo marketplace.

They do have a tutorials section, so I would suggest checking that out. I have been a Safe Swaps member for a while now and I do quite a few successful swaps on there. However, my advice would be to find yourself 15-20 solid partners and just swap with them every month.

There are a lot of people on there who will send a lot of non-tier 1 traffic, and there are a few who are using bots as well. You should always read a member's feedback before setting up a swap with them.

With a small list of 300, you need to look for others on Safe Swaps who have similar list sizes and contact them and ask if you can send a swap proposal and then agree upon a number of clicks to send. Of course, you can always just start sending proposals, and some will accept and some won't. Before you finalize your swap proposal, Safe Swaps will ask you how many clicks you want to swap. Your partner will see that number and if they agree they will accept your swap and then it will be placed on your swap calendar. Then when that day comes all you have to do is send out your partners swipe and deliver the agreed upon number of clicks, and they will do the same for you.

While ad swapping is still pretty popular, click banking is rapidly overtaking it in popularity and that's what most folks prefer to do. They do not have any click banking options on Safe Swaps, so if you want to get into that you will have to go looking for the Facebook groups or Skype rooms.

Join the Skype Groups and Facebook pages for Solo Ad sellers and ask if anyone there would like to swap ads or do click banking.

I've heard safe-swaps isn't a good idea anymore. Not an effective way of gaining good leads.

Yes you are correct. There are exceptions but on the whole most users on Safe Swaps are swapping the same leads with each other, leads which are just signing up to free offers and not likely to buy.

udimi.com might be a better option where you buy and sell solo ads. But avoid the low cost offers and go for the more expensive tier 1 that have built their list a way from the site using social media etc.

There is no way to be certain if even these lists are of high quality, so buy the smallest amount possible first as a test and add to your favourites if you get a decent result.

If you go to the FB groups and post saying that you are looking for an ad swap partner you should get someone contacting you back. It does not cost anything. You should only look to swap as many clicks as you can supply within 24 hours. It is customary to complete the sending the same day you start the swap. They will give you the link to their site and you give them yours. Then send out your emails on the day predesignated.

    Trade links with someone else.

You send a broadcast to your list with their link it...

They send a broadcast to their list with your link in it.

(And the links tend to go to a squeeze page)

First and foremost, you want to be tracking your average CTR, before agreeing to anything. People are suggesting to go here and there, but in order to make the most out of this, you're going to want to at least be aiming for 50-100 CTR on average.

It's not a case of sending an email out and getting a return. If you only get 6 clicks that person isn't very likely to even bother with the ad-swap.

So figure out what your average CTR is first, if it's still below 50 then keep working on free list building methods or buying more traffic, until you have some consistency.

Use a website like Udimi.com to sert up adswaps. Also join some skype groups related to solo ads and ad swaps where you can set some up.

Personally I don't do ad swaps because I'm giving away my hard earned subscribers to someone else.
