Hi Guys I was hoping to get some advice on my first authority site project that I am looking to do.

I have already picked a niche that I would like to work within that allows for branching out into sub niches and I have found a sub niche that I want to begin with to build authority.

I have also found a 6 word long tail keyword for that first sub niche that receives 1900 average monthly searches, a CPC of $3.80 and the top 10 results are all N/A PR with 0 backlinks apart from one 4 PR < 50 backlinks that is very well targeted towards my audience but it does have PR3 and 4 competition if it is not searched with exact term ("")

My question is am I approaching this in the correct way or am I misunderstanding some fundamentals around selecting niches, sub niches and keyword research?

My second question is should I go by the competition shown in google when using "" or without?

Thanks in advance for reading.

You've asked a whole bunch of questions and I can tell you . . . you'll get a better response if you ask one question at a time. Successful people don't have the time to address each question in any detail.

Everything begins with market demand and I hope you researched it online before you "picked" your niche. And I'm not talking just about Google keyword and phrase searches. You should get into the market for the exact thing you're focusing on and see what activity and demand there is for that one thing. Forget about all the sub-niches you intend to branch out into and focus all your effort in building your authority in one thing, and one thing only. Once you are an authority and profitable and meet your income goals every month in that one thing . . . then you can begin to think about expanding.

The market itself is worth $10b in the US and there are products related to what I intend to do that are selling well in CB etc. Its parent niche is also quite recommended throughout this forum. Is that what you meant or should I be looking further into it?

It is something I have a genuine interest in and appears to be profitable based on the research I've done.

My main concern is around the keyword research and if I am doing it correctly, I have edited the OP to reflect.

      Ty for input.

You'd probably be better off getting advice regarding keywords in this section of the WF: Search Engine Optimization

        Hope that helps!
