Traffic to my site is low by around 22% on the new year eve. Are you also having low traffic on the new year eve?

Do you actually expect there to be the same amount of traffic?
    Seriously?

      @ laurencewins:

The traffic is low by 22%. There has to be some reason for such a big drop. It being on new year eve, so I am asking are other site owners also experiencing same?

Traffic, in general, can be slow around the holidays -- unless you're in particular niche markets that people tend to shop in. That's just part of business that you get used to.

I don't think many people are sitting home online on New Years Eve. And, even if they are home, they're with family or watching the New Year's celebration on television. So it would make sense your traffic is down. You're likely to get the same dip in traffic next year too. Next time, just advertise or promote more to compensate.

        Times are changing!

And, we can bring the world to us rather than going out and standing by the street to watch a parade. It's all on TV now. And, some people are watching live streams on mobile of those holiday events such as countdown to New Year.

Anyway, it's likely that some niche (sites) receive far more traffic on New Years Eve/Day than others. While other sites receive far less traffic.

You know either way which group you are in.

To me any fluctuation around any holiday would be expected. I'd say around the big ones like New Years it wouldn't be abnormal to see a fluctuation like this if not even more.

Could have been worse, everybody is out celebrating on New Year's. Think the most important thing is how much you can increase your business this year

A lot of people do tend to party, rather than work, on New Years Eve.

After new year, traffic to my site has come back to normal, rather it's bit high now.
