Amazon usually brings forward the earnings to "unpaid balance" at the beginning of every month. Now today is 4 and they have not moved the earning.

Last month I saw some notification of tax withholding form and I filled it. At the end of the form I read the next:

Based on your previous inputs, you need to supply additional information that outlines the breakout of your services performed inside and outside the United States to determine U.S. withholding tax applicability before you can receive payment.

"Please email taxinformationinterview@amazon.com with the following information for detailed instructions.

Amazon business for which you are supplying tax information
Supplier number, vendor code, publisher code, etc.
Name on account
Type of service provided (e.g. advertising, consulting, etc.)"

* I have not sent email to taxinformationinterview@amazon.com b/c it says complete. Do you guys think the reason behind the problem I just mentioned is this?

Yes most certainly. Affiliate programmes in the US have an obligation to ensure tax law is being complied with. If you are a non us citizen just complete the form and email them back with the information they require and all should be ok.

Sorry I forgot to say they can't claim tax from you if you live outside the US however they can if you live inside the US and they have a duty to inform the tax authorities of your affiliate income if you live in the US. This is to avoid tax evasion.

Really? So why do you think Amazon does this and ClickBank doesn't, then?

It's not nearly as simple as that: it also depends on whether you live in a country that has a tax treaty with the US.

This thread, though it's still very short at the moment, is already a classic illustration of why people should take advice on matters involving tax and law from a qualified accountant or lawyer, rather than from members of a forum who are trying to be helpful but whose opinions are very often either based on mistaken premises or simply inapplicable to the circumstances of the person asking for help.

If you are a non-US citizen you are NOT obligated to pay US income taxes. However, you must file a W8 with Amazon to 'certify' your status.

The above being said, things are changing as time goes by. Stay tuned to FATCA (Foreign Accounts Tax Compliance Act) as it addresses US citizens residing outside the US and is generating income in the country that they reside in (or other countries).

I am not a US citizen. But I remember I filled Fw-8ben tax with holding form for several affiliate programs but not Amazon. Amazon has asked me now.

I think the system asked me further info as I selected inside and outside US business. I did not understood what that exactly meant. I thought my website serves both US and non US countries so I selected inside and outside option.
