I think quality matters a lots.

Read famous internet marketing bloggers who are making six figure from their blogs like Kim Roach ( for traffic) , passiveincome .com and nichepursuit.com ( spancer)

When i ask myself a question why i am reading their blog for last 2 years and the answer comes in my mind is all about quality information shared. They pick one subject and become master it and share it one their blog consistent basis like Kim roach is really good in traffic and she always share what is working right now for getting traffic.

So bottom line , take one subject become master it and share it on internet.Eventually if you have promoted nicely, you will get good established blog.

I totally agree. If you try to be a generalist you won't have much luck. Even if you try to be a marketing generalist, it will be hard. Yeah, there are exceptions like Seth Godin, but you'll have to bust your buns to get that kind of authority. Find a tight well needed niche and go for that. Simple, pimple!

      God Bless!

    Hi IMToThePoint

the following advices are basic strategies you should know when you want to build a successful blog:

    1. Define your targeted Audience

You need to define your audience clearly to make sure you reach them and understand what they want...

These are some criteria you need to identify:

    Age
    Club memberships
    Education
    Geographic area
    Hobbies
    Income level
    Marital status
    Occupation
    Religion
    Sex
    Sexual orientation
    Special interests

    2. Put an unique twist on your blog posts

Research how other bloggers presenting their similar content, and then develop creative ways to do it better or in a more unique and attention-getting way

    3. Add fresh content

You could add fresh content daily but it's also enough when you do this once or twice a week.
The only thing is to post value content.

    4. Social Buttons on your Blog

I recommend you to use social plugins on your blog to make your content viral.
Make sure to add a strong Call to action at the end of each post, something like:"...if you like this post, share it now with your friends - because sharing is caring "

There is also a cool wordpress plugin - a content locker. The visitor needs to share your post before it unlocks - cool stuff

    5. Offer a free gift on your blog in exchange for their email address

Build your list by offering a free giveaway - something like "Top 10 Tricks about XY" or "4 Ways to avoid XY" - you get the idea...

Hope this helps, have a nice day!

    - Pick your very favourite topic and write for the shear joy of it. Don't right for money. Yes you can make money with it but not if its sole purpose is to make money.

    - Write like how you speak.

    - Write for people not search engines.

Becoming a successful blogger takes a lot of time, perseverance and patience. When ever you are doing something for the sheer 'joy' of it, your creative juices will keep flowing and you will build 'momentum' a lot quicker.

Now if you came for the money first, then you will constantly lack inspiration and need to seek motivation constantly just to try and stay active.

When ever you do something that you love to do, you become inspired. And when ever you are inspired you will never need to find outside sources for 'motivation' again

Inspired actions are way more powerful than 'motivated' actions.

    #1 - Frequent posting. I post everyday

#2 - Blog subscriber base (i'm lazy on this one. i typically use my blog to *sell*, and use my homepage for getting new leads.)

#3 - Marketing. Most of my blog readers come from my email list. So my blog is designed to sell to THEM.

I do light SEO and off-page "free" promotion. I'm in love with paid advertising. This is why i'm lacking on my blog subscriber forms and base

#4 - Find all the advice you can about blog marketing, and monetization. This forum has great people and examples that you can copy and clone

    1. Engage, engage, engage: When someone reaches out top you through blog comments, email or social media, treat them like Royalty.
    2. Build Meaningful Relationships. Select a handful of bloggers you like, and go and connect. Building relationships is one of the most crucial elements of building a successful blog. It opens doors that you never knew existed.
    3. Be Transparent. Being transparent = Trust.Trust = Money.
    4. Be Yourself. Be yourself. Showcase your skills and qualities like there’s no tomorrow. Equally, don’t be afraid to showcase your weaknesses.
    5. Commit. Blogging is like playing the long game. There’s no way around it. Commit right now to a decent blogging schedule, and have a long term plan.

I'm literally just started my own blog. I would advise to get it setup and running asap and not worry too much about making it look pretty, as that could cost you months.

Then monetize as soon as you can. eg if in IM niche user links/banners to domain name, hosting and email auto responder companies.

Then post consistently, eg Every Tuesday or if posting twice a week every Tuesday or Thursday etc.

Always be honest and provide value in your posts and connect with other successful bloggers.

1: Study successful bloggers as there are some of them.
      2. Be prepared to work and work HARD at developing quality content as the web is filled with it. You can't just post a 500 word post and expect it to go viral, and even a perfectly written 10,000+ page e-course may not gain traction without STRONG marketing.
      3. Specialize. Don't target something too general, carve a small niche and become the go-to source for it.

      Best of luck.

Great advice! One thing i've learned about developing a blog is generating quality original content daily is very challenging. I agree it's best to pick a subject and become a master of it.

and the author mentions the fact that you need EPIC content that will go viral and get retweers, facebook shares and so on...

he also says you need to be passionate and talk like a real human...

Put your own spin on a topic to make the content different, or if you're going to blog about something everyone else is already blogging about, make sure it's better than everyone else's.
