suggestion for directory site

Dear Warriors,

Can we earn by making a directory site? I heard that google has degraded directory sites and doesn't give value to these. If this is not the case, then through which ways we can earn through this type of site. Please suggest. Also, what should and shouldn't do with this kind of site as an admin. I hope my question is clear. Please respond me ASAP and best which is always expected from this forum users.

    Yes, certainly you can earn money via Directory sites. The most preferred way is to list few businesses for free in a specific niche in your city and than contact their competitors asking them a get themselves listed for a price where there competitors are already listed.

    This works 100% of the time.

    Alternative way is to list all the businesses of specific niche in the city and than trade leads with those businesses. By trading, I mean selling leads to the respective companies.

    If you do not want hassle of coding your directory site. Choose wordpress, there are lots of amazing directory themes which you can install and build your directory sites right away.

    Actually I wanted to have an idea about a directory same like many are already online, helping link building and SEO purposes. I have seen lots of paid as well as free and resiprocal directories. These tend to be simple and many of them have PR 1 to 7, though I saw one of PR 8 too. Can you warriors please tell me, what exactly these directories are worth of, specifically earning point of view and in general getting leads or email list etc.

    Also, I am not planning to have a very huge project in it, its gona be just a simple hassle free directory.

    You thinking the wrong way. Before start thinking about how to monetize your directory you need to create something valuable. If you offer high quality content to your visitors,sooner ot later you will get rewarded by Google and other SE. Directories have not been punished by Google. Crappy sites have been punished.

      A directory site is simply a type of web site, like a blog is a type of web site, or a product site, service site, review site, e-commerce site, portal site, community site, etc, etc.

      More important to making money than the type of site . . . is the niche that site is in and how well you are able to monetize the site.

      Any site can make money if it sells what people are interested in buying.

      So starting your business determined to employ a type of site is not the way to create a profitable and successful business.
