Why you NEED to be consistent

I'm still sort of new to the world of IM i guess you could say. I'm really into media and entertainment and finding ways to make extra income with methods concerning these things. Like Facebook fan pages, youtube, photography & videography, etc.

My life has been a roller coaster of change in mind and methods within the passed year and one of the main lessons that I have learned and am still perfecting is consistency.

You can dream big and say whatever you want, but until you are consistent in your work and methods it is going to be almost impossible to succeed.

Trust me, this is easier said then done because even I have trouble sometimes staying consistent in my methods and remind myself everyday why it is important to my success.

Are YOU staying consistent in your daily methods? If so what changes have you seen?

If not, what is the main contributing factor as to why it is hard for you to stay consistent?

I'd say for a lot of people that consistency is hard because they do not have the purse.
So they don't have the money to test completely so bin it and jump on something else and by the time they know it they've hopped around 10 different things.

Just stick to one thing and make it happen. You don't learn to play football overnight!

Everyday we have goals, some are long term goals, and some are short term goals. In order to achieve our goals an our dreams we must first write down exactly what it is we want, than figure out how we are going to get there! Write down your goals for the year, than break them into smaller quarterly goals than turn those into monthly goals, and from their create daily goals. It is only then we can achieve our goals, is if we have a consistent plan of action and we take action toward our overall goal every single day. Consistency will get you somewhere, excuses won't.

If you don't have the drive to accomplish big things- then it won't happen

I agree with you completely! When I tell my friends the goals that I am working towards, my BIG goals, they take it as if I'm joking or just being a "dreamer".

Meanwhile, I make a hundred or so dollars per month while I learn the ropes while they get that 80k degree for a 9-5 the rest of their lives!

  • Always stay consistent on your path.
    - If your working on one project, stick to it until you have either one section of it complete or all of it complete.
    - what I understand as consistency is updating projects and social media accounts, emailing etc...always post when you need to. every 3 days, 5 days at this time etc....
    - Your audience expects things form you at a certain time. Dont let them down
    - You obviously have to be consistent with what you accomplish on a day to day basis as well

I agree & unless you are willing to treat your online business the same way you would a real offline business, its going to be hard to get good results. The great part is that your work should last forever & could keep making you sales for years to come

People can remember to smoke that cigarette every day so what can't they remember to nurture their business?

Success is my addiction, theres not one day when I wake up and my mind isn't flooding with ideas and goals that I need and want to accomplish!

Being consistent is the ONLY way to build up momentum. Gooood post!

And when there is momentum, that's where magic starts to happen.

You couldn't have said this better. This is the exact formula. Once you build momentum, your numbers begin to compound drastically.

I totally agree with this. A few years ago I had a website where I was selling a health product. I noticed that when I would add content 5 or more days a week I would get sales. The second I would back off the sales would stop. Also, I noticed with blogging, readers like to check blogs daily, and expect an update everyday. I am working on developing enough content where I can update 5+ times per week and maybe once on the weekend. Thanks for the inspiration!

That's the spirit! I need to stick this to myself. I'm in love with Youtube and my goal is to make a livable income off of it for at least part of my life but the only way for me to get there is to be consistent in my efforts!

If they haven't showed consistency or discipline in other areas that trait tends to show in their online endeavors as well..

It's best to stay focus on just one thing that works for you. Then continue to repeat the process which includes the money coming in, in that process. Only when you see the money coming in do you know that your method of monetization (or sales funnel) works for you. Then you can be consistent in doing the same work over and over again.

Consistency is key i agree. The most simplest way to be consistent in your business is to set small goals everyday and execute them everyday. They can be the same routine tasks so that you can manage your time and marketing effectively. This is what i do everyday. I do light free marketing everyday, and let my paid advertising lead the way. Plus i workout and cook. I find the time to do it. You have to make time in your business and schedule also in order to be consistent.

So true. If you are just bouncing from one thing to the next you won't ever get much done. This is what most people say is information overload. If they were just consistent with one method, they wouldn't be overwhelmed. Thanks for the reminder!

Honestly, I know it isn't what you want to hear but I am going to tell you the truth. The United States government has stacked the deck against the small business man. The days of mom and pop are DOA. 10,000 Home Depots have replaced your local mom and pop hardware store, and it will never be the same. Unless you are a multimillionaire and can afford to lobby the crooks in Washington, you are just urinating in the wind. If you can't beat them then join them. You might get a nice desk job with a view. The tax code alone is a rat trap just waiting to snap you into submission. Might as well just go corporate and forget about every having any apple pie or white picket fences, those days are long gone.

Being consistent has been difficult for me as well at times. For example, I know that generating leads (list building) is something that needs to happen every day but there is a lot to list building. It's not just an opt-in form with an autoresponder. Emails need to be written, sales funnels created, list segmented. Then there is product creation so you can offer something of value to your subscribers. These things can be overwhelming and time consuming.

I have found that for me setting short term (this week), medium term (this month), and long term (6-12 month) goals need to be set and strictly adhered to. This is the only way I can stay on track. Without setting goals for the week and stopping at nothing to accomplish them I make little progress.
