How The Heck Do You Podcast?

INTERNET MARKETING

I want to start podcasting about my business subject because I love talking about it and I hear that it is supposed to be some incredible way to promote your business?

I know that with podcasting I need to create audio tracks and all of that, but how do you get traffic to your podcast? Where do you host the podcasts? I heard of podcast directories, but they don't seem to get that many visitors.

Please tell me how the heck do you get listeners with podcasts and how do you get your podcast into itunes? Do you have to apply? Is there a fee?

  Paul Colligan is one guy that can share insight about podcasting when it comes to integrating it with your marketing when it comes to connecting Point A to Point B (just google him and his sites pull up for you to subscribe to).
  
  I use www.nanacast.com to do all my podcasts with (it can ping to iTunes if needed so you can having an iTunes podcast along with syncing my audio/multimedia files).
  
  I use podcasting for creating content and content delivery more than anything. My podcasts are used to get subscribers, deliver paid products, to share the free podcasts with current subscribers and as another way of content delivery with a one-click iTunes settings for those who are following specific updates.

ha_squared, I've bought a book called "Podcast Solutions" and it's excellent; it tells you everything you need to know about podcasting from scratch in plain English. Assuming that you're in the US, here's the Amazon URL (used prices starting at $0.85)....

  Podcasting is like any other form of syndication:
  
  1. create content that will achieve your marketing goals.
  2. upload it to a server where others can get it.
  3. tell people about it.
  
  There are tools to help you "syndicate podcast" to several websites at once to help you with traffic. There are sites that allow you to upload your audio content. You can also provide a "podcast feed" from your site if you have sufficient traffic.
  
  I use "Audacity" to record and normalize my audio, then export it to mp3, though there are hundreds of programs that do the same thing.
