Organizing Website Posts

Besides a "search box" and a "recent post" what is a great way to display all your posts titles on the home page of a website?

One of my sites has over 100 tips that are on separate posts. I have yet to find a GREAT way to index these so that my readers can easily see all of them on the home page (kind of like a book index).

Do any of you warriors have any great ideas or examples of some excellent sites that incorporate this in any way?

Thanks!!!

Do you mean you want visible title links to every post on your home page?

Hmm. If you have WordPress, you may be able to use the Text widget to manually add links to all 100 posts on your sidebar. But with 100 links, it might not look neat and organized.

Have you thought about maybe creating a round-up post with all the links inside of the post? You could then sticky the post to make sure it stayed on the homepage.

    BMW,

Can I ask, "Why is it important that you offer a link to every post on the home page of your site?"

To me, that's unprofessional, makes your site look crowded and cluttered, and will confuse rather than help your visitors. Who wants to comb through 100 links to find one post they're interested in?

I would archive all your posts and then offer "sections" or "topics" on the home page. It's just one extra click, but will add greatly to the organization and layout of your site.

If you insist on all links on one page, do it with a site map page (which Google endorses) rather than mucking up your valuable space on the home page. IMO, the home page should contain your latest post, change regularly, and show the world the quality of your writing.

    The best to you,

    Steve

I use a plugin call YD Recent Posts for Wordpress, it's free. You can set the number of posts to display in the sidebar widget with no limit.

Hello! You could consider making a Top 10 of the posts and that top 10 include various posts, that change from week to week, for example. This would be an idea. Good luck!

      Hi,

I don't think having 100 posts on your home page would be a good idea for all kinds of reasons. Maybe what you're looking for is to offer people more content very quickly. I can think of 3 ways to do that (if you're working with WordPress)

      1. Have multiple content columns or a page full of tiles sort of like Microsoft.

      2. You could implement infinite scroll. There are various free plugins that do this like Infinite Scroll -- Jetpack for WordPress or https://wordpress.org/plugins/infinite-scroll/ New posts would load continuously as the reader scrolls down.

      3. Content recommendations engine where below each post you could have 4 or 8 or 12 recommended posts from the same category. There are plugins for that or you can pay for a service that provides personalised results for each reader over time using past browsing habits like this plugin and service for example: https://wordpress.org/plugins/contextly-related-links/

Even if you're not using WordPress I'm sure other platforms have similar solutions.

Maybe not the best solution but you could set your home page to a static page and manually link to each post. Certainly not the fastest way but it would work.
