Amazon Affilates buyer location question

Just building my first wordpress site. After building it up a bit i installed a plugin to help speed up inserting my affilate links to amazon.

When setting up the plugin i noticed this.

"To actually earn commission from sales made through Amazon Links on your site you must sign up to the Amazon Associate program for your targeted locales."

Now does this mean that if someone from the uk buys my product which is connected to a amazon.ca affiliate i will not receive commission?

Absolutely, you will only earn commissions for each targeted locale. You need to join each Amazon Associate program in every country you want to target.

Can you combine your earnings on amazon or do you have to cash each country out separate?

No unfortunately they are all separate, and are sent in the currency of that country.

            You're welcome.
Another thing is that each Amazon sign-up form is in their native language, e.g. Japanese! and if you went that route you would need a script or plug-in to localise the links by visitors country IP.

    Yes, it means that.

If you want to earn commissions from amazon.co.uk, you have to be an affiliate of amazon.co.uk (which has a £7-per-item ceiling on commissions paid, by the way), and direct your customer to amazon.co.uk as well.

You can do that either by having built-in IP recognition software in your site, which recognizes that your customer's in the UK and sends him automatically to that link, or by showing him multiple links ("Click here to see this item at Amazon US / Canada / UK" etc.)

No. If someone from the UK buys from your amazon.ca affiliate website then you do get a commission.

You do not get a commission if they buy from amazon.co.uk and you are not an affiliate at amazon.co.uk.

Some affiliates do not realize they need to enroll and be approved for each amazon site they want to use affiliate links with.

If you have a plugin that automatically redirects to amazon.ca or .com or .co.uk depending on the visitor's origin, then you need to be enrolled in each of those programs in order to be able to have an affiliate link for each Amazon.

If you only have a .ca affiliate account then the .co.uk and .com redirects will not recognize your affiliate link.

Your commission depends on the Amazon property the purchase is made from, not the location of the buyer.

      This is wrong.

That's not - as you mistakenly suggest - an example of the fact that "Amazon doesn't sell to people outside the country". You're drawing a "generalized conclusion", and it's an incorrect one.

I don't live in the US either, but I can buy things from amazon.com and have them delivered to me, as can people in many other countries.

This is right ... but be aware, too, that someone from the UK can buy an item from amazon.ca (and from amazon.com, the US one, etc.) only if that item isn't also sold at amazon.co.uk. Otherwise Amazon's own IP recognition software won't even show them the price, but will offer them a re-direct to amazon.co.uk.

Amazon does not sell to people from outside country anymore. For example, Amazon US does not sell to india. I cannot order. I need to go to amazon.in which has very fewer products.

You need to sign up to all amazon assosciates like amazon.com, amazon.ca, amazon.fr, etc. and you will need to request payout from each of them seperately.

You can checkout "easyazon" plugin if you use wordpress. It serves the local amazon website to visitors according to their IP location. It is a very handy plugin for localising your visitors for amazon.
    Hope that helps. Good luck

Maybe I am generalizing but everytime I tried to purchase from amazon, I got the message that amazon doesn't ship the item to India. I could purchase before but not anymore. I tried plenty of times. Finally gave up purchasing from amazon since amazon.in never has the product I'm searching for

Nobody's disputing that. But the conclusion you've drawn from it (that Amazon no longer ships to people outside the country) isn't correct at all.

Ok. Maybe it's just in india? Not exactly sure. I have read up the amazon.in FAQ and it says that amazon.in does not ship outside India currently. It might be temporary though. The url is below.
Can I sell outside India through Amazon .in marketplace?
